It doesn't have to be that way. The lineup could use changes that address the weak times and promote the strong performance times.

Unfortunately, your "usual routine" summary is spot on. Doing the same thing game to game and hoping for something different to occur is folly. Admittedly, there are times when the routine works out but not enough to justify monomaniacally repeating the causes for it.

This team could, and should, perform at a higher level.

It should be an interesting matchup. In games like this, it pays to put a lot of players on the court, college style, and try to run down the other team, since they are on a back-to-back and missing their second-leading scorer and leading assist man, Darius Garland.

I am sure the Cavaliers figure they can win this game without Garland, who is resting. Maybe the Kings will take that as a put-down.

Mason and Craw played for Stockton 6 hours ago. So I guess IJ is available and Taylor too (10days contract).
Maybe Mason+Craw will be available but if they play will be "garbage time" only.

I expect Doug McDermott to be the backup small forward. As I wrote before last night's game, the Kings need to find him for eight shots at least. If he gets on fire, we have a fighting chance.
