Since this summer we are one of a few teams under the cap and the economy is horrible, we are in a great spot to take advantage of cash strapped teams. Here are a few ideas I came with on my lunch hour. I'm making the assumption that without SAR's salary and after signing our high pick we'll be at about 50M and have roughly 8M in cap space to absorb more salary that we send back in trades. Numbers based on:

Idea #1:
Washington Wizards
incoming: 2nd round pick
Kings
incoming:Etan Thomas, 2009 high 1st
Reason: Wizards will be $10M over the tax line and will try to get back to winning with a healthy Arenas/Jamison/Butler next year. This move saves them $20M tax payments included. This makes me very happy and lets us go Thabeet/Teague or Thabeet/Rubio in the draft and really get this rebuild going. This is my favorite.
Idea #2
Utah Jazz
incoming:2nd round pick
Kings
incoming:2010 Knicks unprotected pick, Matt Harpring (6.5M expires 2010)
Reason: Small market team and will be over the tax line if they want to keep Boozer even if they let Milsap go for nothing. Could let Boozer walk and keep Milsap and be right about at the tax line, but if they had this option they might choose to keep Boozer and contend. This trade will give them plenty of room to do so and they just have to give up a pick they should never have had anyway thanks to Isiah. Knicks should be bad again in 09 making this a high pick while they prep for the Lebronathon.
Idea #3
New Orleans Hornets
incoming:2nd round pick
Kings
incoming: Julian Wright, Antonio Daniels (6.6M expiring 2010), 2009 late 1st
Reason: Hornets keep their contending core, get under the tax, save $16M or so and just have to give up some promising young pieces to us in exchange. They just tried to give up Chandler for nothing so it's hard to believe they wouldn't listen to this. We have an overpaid backup PG for 1 year plus some more young talent.
Idea #4 - clear the crap
Houston Rockets
incoming: KT, Beno, Nocioni
Kings
incoming: McGrady, Cook
Reason: Assume McGrady is done through next year, they want to resign Artest, stay under the tax line, and get a little help at PG since Brooks is looking shaky. This gives them space to do all that for their broken down superstar that is basically gone already. We get rid of all our mistakes and get one big expiring and then try to figure out what to do in 2010.
Idea #5 - clear the crap...if the first idea doesn't work
Phoenix Suns
incoming: Beno, Nocioni
Kings
incoming: Shaq
Reason: The Suns team meant to contend is a failure AND they will be 5-10M over the tax line next year with a penny pinching owner. Not a good combo. This gives them 8M in space to get under the tax and gives them a starting PG they can play after they trade or let a 36yo Nash go in 2010. We buy the big guy out so he never puts on a Kings jersey and we have tons of 2010 room to play with.
