Who's the right man for the job? I keep coming up empty

Someone that just stops trying to overthink and fight the inevitable. A young coach with nothing but development on his mind. Doug the last 2 weeks has coached every minute for that given minute. No patience, no plan. Maybe Bobby Jackson? Don't know about him either though.

Full changes are not allowed to happen until certain dates have arrived

Apparently. Still, believe it when I see it. Westbrook ain't going anywhere. Watch this season be about nothing more than getting him higher on the scoring list. People quickly forget that the franchise lost Fox partly because of those first few years where they jerked him around and did **** like this. Plain dumb.

I'd have rather brought Vince Carter out of retirement

Maybe. He's definitely very x's and o's and that might not hurt. There's plenty of assistant coaches and G league guys out there. Doug is putting way too much pressure on himself to turn this around. I was a little sketched when at every single turn he made it sound like his coaching tenure was all about making up for 2002. No dude, just no.

yeah, I think he might have put the cart before the horse

Russ is playing well but Carter probably could have done a lot more. He was definitely more apt to stay in his lane at that point. Russ is clearly rehabbing on the Kings dime. We can respect the hustle and those with a short memory knows it means nothing once he's outta here.

They should have known that this is what they were signing up for,....but maybe that's what they wanted, for some reason?

Russ is putting up stats because his USG rate is through the roof, but he's not playing well and he's an absolute sieve defensively. Same deal with Russ over the last like 8+ seasons; can put up stats, but doesn't show up on the scoreboard.

A lot of this issue stems from him DDR and LaVine not having a single prayer of staying in front of their main on defense. And just snowballs from there. It's basically every possession

I wouldn't say it means nothing. The rookies are probably learning a lot from Westbrook, and he is setting a good example. I think Clifford even said he is learning so much from him and he idolized Westbrook growing up. Those things will have a positive impact. I think a lot of Max's success is because of Westbrook. Half of Max's baskets are set up by Russ.
