This was 3 games in 4 nights for Nique, which I thought showed tonight. Didn't have the same usual juice

And he had the misfortune of starting with this veteran core. How anyone let alone a rookie guard can catch a break with that unit is a miracle. Max is lucky in that sense because he just has to let Monk and Russ do their thing and catch the ball when they send it his way, haha. It's insane how many times a game Keegan and Nique will be standing there, wide open and bounce bounce bounce by DeMar or Russ. Goodness gracious.

I've noticed it more the last few weeks, but Monk is basically this now too. He's looking to chuck and chuck some more. And of course LaVine is wired the same exact way.

DeRozan, Lavine, and Monk are all guys who if they can manufacture any look at the rim, only pass as an emergency. It really kills everyone else's rhythm, including Sabonis

Please trade multiple vets as soon as possible so we can watch the younger guys play and grow. Can’t wait for the day Doug is dismissed. Move him to the front office or whatever.

Doug is being told to play the vets. Come on now, he was given the order to play the vets to increase their trade value. But it’s simply not working. We just need to give them away for nothing if possible and move on to the rebuild

He wasn’t good last year and he’s not good this year. I highly doubt he’s being told to play the vets36-40 minutes. That’s risking injury which is not what we would want if we are going to move vets.

Carter looked pretty good for a guy playing 3 days straight. Really liked how he kept cutting to the rim, despite the fact that his teammates were hardly looking for him. I think he would have had a couple more baskets if Westbrook was out there with him. It was almost kind of odd seeing a Kings player out there cutting. Usually they're just standing around watching whichever ball hog has the ball at the moment.

Like Malik Monk, who no longer makes his teammates better and now just spams shots all game.

Raynaud got roasted by Jokic and JVal. Definitely a learning experience for him.

Nique, yikes.

Nique definitely looked rough out there, but Carter's minutes were super encouraging. Nothing about his lack of minutes this season has made an iota of sense. There is absolutely NBA talent there, a useful rotation player if nothing else, with enough upside to be worth the investment, development, and court time.

Monk's usage rate is a bit lower this year than last: 22.4 vs 23.7. In 2023-24, when he almost won Sixth Man of the Year, it was even higher, at 24.7. De'Aaron Fox that year had a usage rate of 30.0.

Rats, now I'm sorry I missed this one. Hopefully I didn't miss my one chance to see Devin Carter actually play for the month.

Besides 1 or 2 games Nique hasnt had juice. He has been bad all season IMO.
I sorta disagree. He's not playing winning basketball, but he is making basketball plays that are very impressive on the regular (sans last night).

I got a lounge invite last night, decent food, I also now know why the bottom half is empty right after half time, you go to the restroom, grab a drink and some food and you turn around and the second half is already starting. When we saw Carter was in, we headed back up. I thought he looked really good in person. His movement was good, didn't hesitate on his shot. Decent shot selection for the garbage time he was in. It was encouraging.

I think the problem is that when he does get the ball he is only looking to score far too often.

That one game I tracked passes per possession in our half-court offense, he had the most 0-pass possessions and Russ was right behind him.

I get it happens sometimes if you get an open look on a screen but a lot of the time these shots are heavily contested. We aren’t doing a good job of sharing the rock to get the best shot possible.

I may be misremembering, but I feel like the one and only person Monk was good at creating for with any consistency is Sabonis.

In the post-game interview, Doug did say he was intending to play the young guys more, with the expectation that games could be rough, so I thought that at least was encouraging.

Man, games were rough before he started playing the young guys more, so it's certainly a positive if he intends to get the younger guys more minutes. At least then it's not a wasted developmental year for those guys. If they're going to lose, then lose well, with the young guys logging a significant share of minutes.
