I think most of us understood we may have functionally hit rock bottom between the Fox trade and this offseason but we had to actually hit rock bottom on the court before we could move on and start getting the youth going (and some injuries helped). Let's just hope we see it through. I think Perry is being honest and letting fans know that it is going to be worse before it gets better.
The true test of this now is will Vivek lower STH prices next year in recognition that the most loyal customer base is not going to be getting an NBA level product for a year or two (and perhaps in recognition of what they have suffered through these past two seasons).

I was watching the first half of the game yesterday thinking how can people pay ANY AMOUNT to watch this slop? It’s so boring! Just incredibly mind numbing.

I really liked Russ when he first got here but he has been frustrating to watch the last few games.
Lately he looks like he is out there playing for himself and padding stats without even attempting to play defense on many possessions.
The frequent ball hogging is frustrating enough to watch but the complete lack of defensive effort I saw last night was really disappointing.
Also, Drew is unplayable. I’d rather watch Devin Carter at the 5 than ever see Drew on the court again. The bench was getting on him because he wasn’t even attempting to fight through screens. He looked like he didn’t want to be out there at all. -12 in 3 minutes.

Passing goes toward your usage rating as well. He's basically shooting the same amount of FGs as he always has, but the difference is his assist rate is nearly half of what it has been the last few years. He's just shooting the ball while rarely setting anyone up. Why that's changed, I don't know. He used to be really good in the PnR with his bigs. I don't know if it's a coaching thing or a "I gotta get mine or else I won't get anything" sort of thing.

Passing can be contagious....and many don't want to stand out as the one ball hog, when everyone else is playing unselfish. When he now plays with Lavine, and DeRozan.... and unselfish looking to make an extra pass isn't part of the identity. It's the main the reason that a catch and shoot 3 guy like Keon, has looked completely out of rhythm. He's having to hunt shots to get any attempts and a player like Huerter at his peak would have the same struggle with this roster

I pointed this out at the beginning of the year. The new coaching staff, for reasons unknown, did not take advantage of the Sabonis-Monk pick and roll. A lot of times they were not even on the court together--a total of 90 minutes over 8 games. Moreover, both their assists rates are way down from the two previous seasons. Sabonis is no longer the center of the offense, and Monk has few opportunties to pass to a center or forward. Last night, he had two assists to Raynaud, but I do not think either was on the pick and roll.
The coaches royally screwed up what was working, and failed to replace it with a workable system.

And every other coach u see Vivek. This is a common theme here. I’m. It saying Doug is doing great but I guarantee you he is trying to increase trade value as ordered by management. And no the not wanting to get them injured counter argument is not logical. Build value trade them and then play the youth.
Yeah I'm confused as to what Doug was thinking by going away from what worked okay to what we're seeing now.
I think he's talked about not really calling many plays and just letting the guys play within the flow of the offense. Makes me wonder if he thought he had enough veterans that have been around the block enough to the point where they don't really need to be told what to do on offense. Clearly that isn't the case by the fact that the offense is just as bad as the defense.

Actually, some of the moves that helped us hit rock bottom lie firmly at his door.
To be fair Westbrook has played better than I expected (and Dennis worse). However, signing either was a bad move (both was a disaster), with our guard heavy rotation. Plus, he let Val go, didn't lock up Keon, nor did he sign any promising young player. More than the actual product though, the signings blocked the growth of Devin and Keon. All that can be said about it has already been said though.
On the plus side, he went into the draft with no FRP, and came out with 2 players who both promise to have a long, successful career in the NBA. So, credit to him on that, plus as acknowledgement that he does have an eye for talent, not necessarily one that fits together.

Some of the blame has to lie with Doug. Our offense is putrid. We don't seem to have any plays. It's just some vet pounding the ball, making one or two cosmetic passes, and then shooting a long range jumper. Sometime, they will change tack, run into the teeth of defense, and throw up a prayer, hoping for a miracle or a whistle.
Doug has played a long time in the league. He was part of the team that had the best show on the court. I'm sure he can draw up plays. If he's unable to do so, it might be the personnel. That said, he has to find a way.
At this stage, I don't care about this season. However, in the latter half, if we are able to find more minutes for the kids, I hope he does so. Else, he might not stay long.
Which unfortunately it appears he needed to do to get the show on the road.
The players we had literally demanded a point guard and we could not trade them in the offseason. It sounds like there is actually interest in Dennis around the league. JV wanted to go to Europe. He certainly did not want to return to the Kings and this mess. And Saric was part of any Kuminga deal. None of this really happens in a vacuum.
The only thing that makes no sense is Keon but even that isn't over until he's actually wearing another jersey.

I'm a big JV fan but if he were in the team he would never get the ball in the post and everyone one would be complaining about Max not playing the only guy they should have kept was Jake but even there they couldn't due to money restrictions . Moving JV was a good move but what they got in return was putrid.
