So Ordinary That It's Truly Quite Extraordinary

Hey remember in 2016 when the increased cap meant that all the bloated contracts weren't a big deal.

And then they were.
They made a surprise WCF appearance a few years later but this was the summer the Blazers pretty much sealed shut the coffin for the Dame championship window by spending big on mediocre players (several of whom were KF favorites! Evan turner! Allan Crabbe!)

4/75 for Allen Crabbe (type) would be a huge reach even today, let alone back in 2015. Blazers giving out wild contracts for nearly a decade.

And for all of you keeping track at home, 4/52 is basically the contract Holmes got. So there's where you trade comes in: we run it back with the boys, add Duarte and have a chance to replace Holmes with whoever that money goes to.

Yeah this would have been a no from me dawg.

Before I put together in my head what these guys would cost, he was on my wish list. Now smacked with reality... excellent move by Monte not to spend our entire cap space on one single player, foregoing many key resignings.

Mostly staying put and just making a few key acquisitions may not win you another EOY, but if it's right, it's right. And it appears to be right... so far.
