I think people really need to take a step back and stop worrying so much about team dynamics at this point. This isn't a team that needs to add a few pieces to be a contender, it is a team that needs to find elite talent. I like Tyreke and DMC, and think they are both good players, but neither of them have made the transition from good to great. There is nothing wrong with stockpiling young talent, finding a couple of players to form the core of your team, and then trading the rest to fill out your roster.

Depends on what you are calling a PG. He wasn't the floor vision, traditional guy you claim we need at the position. He shot more and assisted less than Evans did.
 
Here's what the Kings new majority owner said to the crowd gathered at Sleep Train Arena's draft party on the pick of Ben Mclemore:

"Well how excited are you guys about Ben Mclemore? I just wanted to say that he was our No.1 choice and we were frantically in the war room trying to trade up to the number two, three, four slot - we were willing to pay a lot of money to get Ben and we got him at seven. As I've said before, seven is my lucky number. When I was at the Warriors, we got (Stephen) Curry and (Harrison) Barnes at seven, my birthday is on the seventh, the Mayor (Kevin Johnson) was picked seventh, he wore number seven and we got the best player in the (draft) at seven. But I just want to say that you guys are No.1 and I'm very proud and happy to announce that interms of new ticket sales, guess who's No. 1? You guys - the Kings. So again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart; we are humbled by your support and we're going to go back and see what we can do for the rest of the draft. So thank you.
 
I am kind of curious if we go after Snell or Hardaway JR. If there are picks going for 2nd rounders then we shoul dbe snatching those up.

Exactly. Just like how OKC did it. Pick guys and stockpile talent. That's why I'm so opposed to letting Reke walk for nothing. He's more valuable as an asset, even to trade, than letting him walk.

It is what he was asked to do here though. Back in Vancouver he was a more prototypical PG. I really liked it when we got Bibby though. Everyone just knew it was going to work. Some were complaining about messing with a team that just got to the second round ect ect but most people were on board.

What's your point? You claimed he was a pg in Sac. Now you're saying he wasn't because he wasn't asked to be. I'd like to see us once put Evans at pg with a balanced team (including another passer since it isn't his strength) and good coach.

Bibby was a PG though. In Vancouver he was pretty damn good with SAR. But his assist totals did go down when he did get here. You are correct. Its not like he was never a real PG before we got him. He was a 8-9apg guy in Vancouver if I remember correctly.
 
I have repeatedly demonstrated that a PG, in any traditional sense, is entirely optional when it comes to being good. Ron Harper, Derek Fisher and Mario Chalmers were all championship "PGs". Gunners like Derrick Rose or Russel Westbrook lead elite teams today. The Celtics bagged three titles with a converted SG named Dennis Johnson. Kenny Smith was barely a creater for the Rockets. Many many combo types have led elite teams over the years.

Tyreke Evans could easily be a "PG" in a system based around bringing the ball up and dumping it into Cousins, mixed with isos on the other side for Reke against a suddenly wide eyed PG forced to guard him because McLemore was the other guard.

He WAS a PG in Sacramento. If the ball moved through Webber or Divac after Bibby brought the ball up it does not mean he isn't a PG.

Bibby and Burke are sort of similar. Bibby had to prove himself as a PG early on until his shot became consistent. By the time he came to the Kings, he was a good jump shooter, and the Kings were running Princeton offense. Obviously, that meant less need for him to be a PG, but he could still run the break, make the right choice and was excellent in the pick n roll.

One thing about Vivek, he's such a beautifully sincere public speaker. It's his energy that is beginning to pervade the whole franchise, and, I believe, to the whole city.

Christie brought the ball up a ton, and Christie did most of the penetrating with Webber and Divac doing a lot of the passing. Bibby was an off ball shooter on the best Kings teams. He was a creator on a bad team in Vancouver.

Well, he's the only guard we had last year who actually did come up and get it into Cuz consistently, or hit Cuz rolling when playing the two man game. He already showed the ability, whether some want to see it or not.
