2005-06 Preseason Predictions (merged)

nice work kill bill.

Dallas will be very good this year. You could see Avery trying to take a more defensive approach with the team last season. Now he'll have an entire season to work with them and the they haven't made any significant changes in their roster. A potential issue could be that Dirk tires by season's end but they have all the pieces to go far this year.

Another team that I think will surprise many are the Clippers. They have a great roster, and IF (a big one) Cassell can stay healthy, they might just make the playoffs.

Seattle and Phoenix will NOT repeat last years performance, but they will be right their fighting for playoffs spots, along with the Kings.

Houston- I'm not terribly impressed with the Swift signing. He's a one dimensional player and is not the answer for the Rockets at the 4.

Memphis, Lakers, Wolves and Warriors will all struggle to make the playoffs, with the Jazz probably having the best chance of the lot. Even PJ can't save the Lakers this season.

So this is how I see it in the West:

1)Spurs
2)Dallas
3) Phoenix
4) Kings
5) Rockets
6) Sonics
7) Jazz
8) Clippers/ Warriors

The Clipps had their one cosmic chance to knock the Lakers out of the playoffs in Gm82 of 1992, even without Worthy, who was an All-Star that year. Perkins was out too. My boy Sedale popped over Doc Rivers and beat them by 1 pt to bump Houston. Game 82. OT. Danny Manning got off his deadly floater for the win...spun out. It taint NEVER gonna happen. Even if Kobe, Odom, Brown, Mihm all snap their Achilles in the season opener, someone else will bump the Clipps out of playoff contention anyway.

Warriors? Meh...only if they replicate their close-out over 82 games (assuming the health of Baron). Even if Memphis and Denver are out of the picture, I'd put my money on GS edging out LAC.

Oops I knew I was forgetting some team.

Revised version:

1)Spurs
2)Dallas
3) Phoenix
4) Kings
5) Rockets
6) Nuggets- They finished off last season strong. But Marcus camby needs to be healthy for them to make a serious run.

7) Sonics
8) Jazz/ Clipps/ Warriors

Thanks for pointing it out, Brick.

I don't think the loss of Finely will hurt them much. He was a huge part of their sucess 2 years ago, but with the development of Marquis Daniels and Josh Howard, he becomes almost redundant. Seriously, how good has Finely been these last 2 years? Dallas also lost their main cog last summer in Steve Nash but still managed to win 58 games last season.

on the clippers...their starting center would be Kaman...not Ross
