Mister Slim Says: Kings return home from a rough road trip, and their first game back is against the regional rival Golden State Warriors. Kings nemesis Stephen Curry is expected to be out, but the rest of their team appears likely to be available, including the subject of much of the Kings' offseason discourse, Jonathan Kuminga.

Doug Christie seems determined to ride the veterans into the ground, so there's no telling how this game could play out. We've seen that, if all the vets are on fire, they can stay competitive in a game. We've also seen that, as soon as the Kings get in a good position, Christie takes out the players who helped make that possible, in order to put the vets back in, so I can't call it.

When I was learning tennis in high school (too short, too slow, too uncoordinated to make the basketball team) the saying was, "If your strategy is losing, change your game." Do you suppose Doug Christie ever learned how to play tennis?

Re: the poll -

I don't do a ton of Chinese takeout anymore, but coincidentally DID for lunch today. My go-to at the place near my work (which has a relatively minimal menu all things considered) is currently Mongolian chicken, though they also have a pork in garlic sauce that I get from time to time. In the way back, my favorite was definitely Mandarin chicken, but all of the places that I frequented that made a Mandarin have gone belly-up. I'm not even sure I've HAD Mandarin chicken in the last ten years. (And no, the spicy orange chicken at Panda Express does not count, though it's probably the closest thing...)

  1. Mongolian Beef
  2. Orange Chicken
  3. Shrimp Lo Mein

... In that order.

This may sound odd but every single time I’m back in the states, I make a point of going to either Panda Express or one of your standard classic “Chinese” places and getting orange chicken/some variation of fried chicken in sauce. Japan has great Chinese food but it just isn’t the Americanized (admittedly) junk food that I grew up with.

A really good Sweet and Sour dish with the big chunks of peppers and pineapple mixed in is tough to beat and I'm also a fan of that tofu and eggplant dish from Panda Express when the eggplant is cooked just right (soft but not overly mushy) but if I can only get one item it's going to be Chow Mein and a lot of it.
