And It Begins....Pelicans About to Talk to Tyreke Evans

Salary cap is always a baffling, moving target. USAToday has the Pelicans and their free agency abilities under such salary cap as:

"New Orleans Pelicans: The Pelicans will have about $6 million to spend, plus a few cap exceptions."
I posted this already. They can waive Lopez and others to get around $12.4 under the cap.

I think its funny all the people freaking out right now don't realize that the same thing is happening on every single fan forum right now. Twitter has really changed the information availability to the point of it being pointless.

Are there really 10 teams out there for Evans or is it just his agent leaking info? Is there really an offer sheet ready from NO?

None of this is factual stuff just a bunch of rumors.
You're exactly right. All this rumor stuff is just that ... rumors. And, as I've said before, a lot of the rumors are totally circular in nature. If you buy into every one of them, you'll be certifiable before we can even sign a free agent to a contract.

Any offer will be matched by the front office in regards to Tyreke. Vivek Ranadive is a very intelligent individual. Ever see Vivek's videos on YouTube regarding his philosophy and outlook towards life in general? He's got a brain. Pete D'alessandro is a very intelligent individual. Ever see his press conferences with the media? He makes jokes and no one laughs except him. That is a sign of a nerd. That is a sign of a person who recognizes unique basketball talent.

It doesn't matter Kingsfans, worry all you want. The Kings need Tyreke for the future. And if they don't match offers from the other teams, they're going to suck again and again and again.

Tyreke is a vital cogwheel for this team to move forward, so go ahead and give your arguments or whatever.
We all know the Kings suck, that's a given but without Tyreke...they're going to suck even more..

Almost guaranteed that what the Kings will need to pay to keep Evans will be considered "overpaying" by everybody. What's amazing is that people are always seem so surprised at the amount players get in their contracts. I knew that despite the disparagement of Reke by so many Kings fans, a number of other teams were going to covet him. I hope we keep him.

So conceivably New Orleans, having already stolen Noel out from under us only to trade him mid-draft, could now make Evans a $50 million offer a week later? That is some serious trolling on par with what David Kahn did to Portland last year.

What am I missing on Vasquez? Why did they make that Jrue trade? statistically Vasquez is the better player. Admittedly I have not seen a lot of him.
Jrue is more athletic, more talented and an All-Star with a far higher ceiling and does more things on the floor, Jrue averaged 17 and 8 while Vasquez averaged 14 and 9 I don't see how statistically Vasquez is the better player. Holiday is better by the eye test and statistically.

The real question is still how much. Let the process play out. See who are the buying customers and who are just window shoppers, or who may be only interested in the sales rack. None of that has been answered yet.

Teams never forgot about the value. Damn this makes Smart/Petrie look like idiots for minimizing him. This is a wanted man.
I think many posters here who drank the kool aid about IT and/or belived the crap heavers about tyreke's "issues" are going to have a ruuuude wake up call. It was nearly criminal how badly he was handled here.

The rest of the league are not idiots like we had here. His value will be determined by the market, and we will match, and it will be high, it will be worth it, and then people on here will still whine. Thank you grant napear, smart, westphsal, and that other group of people.

The Pelicans already have a set backcourt, are $12 millions under the cap but only 7 players under contracts and still have to sign a SF and a C.

With that said, what I don't get is how could they offer a $10+ millions contract to Tyreke ?

Well the Pelicans have been desperately trying to "unset" their backcourt by dumping the injury prone cancer that is Eric Gordon on anybody who will eat that contract. If they find a taker, watch out.

All depends on the offer! I think the Kings have an idea of what they want to pay, and if the offer is above that, then were likely looking at a sign an trade.

I wouldn't be surprised if Arn Tellem was proactive in setting this meeting up for leverage. I'd have a hard time believing the Pelicans are going to shell out anything we're not easily prepared to match given the makeup of their team and salary structure, and of course what I believe other teams view as Reke's market value. this will be an interesting couple of weeks

Bingo! I suspect that the Pelicans have no interest in starting next season with Gordon on the roster. However, I don't think they'll dump him in a trade until they have a targeted player (Tyreke) in the fold. Its almost laughable how our fans undervalue our players, and overvalue other teams players. Whats happening is exactly what I expected to happen. New Orleans is just one of many teams that are persuing Tyreke. The problem for the Kings is that they need to resolve this as quickly as possible. It'll be very hard to make any moves in freeagency until Tyreke's situation is resolved one way or the other.

Its been reported that as many as 16 teams are lining up to talk to Tyreke. Thats a lot of competition, and competition usually means the price goes up. We need to crawl out from under our rocks and realize that despite all the negative ideas that some had about Tyreke, he's a very sought after commodity. There's a very high possiblilty that Tyreke won't be on our team next season. I don't say that because thats what I want, but because I believe it could very well be a reality.

Probably gonna work with a three team sign and trade.
Gordon goes to Indiana, Granger goes to Kings, Reke (S&T) to N.O.

But I don't really feel Reke would go to the Pelicans.
They're too young now, which means a lot of loses gonna come.
I he has enough of the losing that either he stays a King after being convinced with the front office moves to make the roster better or he go to a team with better playoff chances.

And how many of those supposed 16 have the capspace to offer Evans $10m+? Can't drive up the price if you can't bid. Teams that need to rely on a S&T to make it work aren't really competition. Let's see the actual offers before proclaiming he's been valued over expectations ($12m+).

Given the tendency of kids these days, I'd be willing to bet it's a song lyric of some kind. But, since I have no sense of which song it's from, I'm at a loss to guess at the context, or whether it indicates a good thing or bad thing for Kings Fans.

Anybody have a clue what this means?
If I had to guess I'd say New Orleans impressed him and he liked the offer.

had to look it up, but the "got me feeling some type of way" thing is from rap lyrics, about how driving a nice car makes some women "feel some type of way" etc. Then throwing "new money" on at the end would seem to reference the new offer tonight. So that's my interpretation. Big money offer has Reke thinking about New Orleans.
