With my third pick in the draft, I'm going to go with another album that I had to buy a second copy of. It's an album my daughter says still reminds her of her early childhood, as she heard it many, many times over the years.
I had graduated from high school and was in college when this album debuted. I even remember where I was the first time I heard the long version of "Light My Fire." For that reason, the song has always evoked images of cruising down the road in a lime-gold 65 Mustang convertible. Oddly enough, I cannot remember the name or face of the guy who owned the car.
Yep, with this pick I'm grabbing the debut album of The Doors.
The Doors - The Doors - 1967
There are so many good songs on that album. "Light My Fire" may have been the most popular at the time, but you learn a lot more about Morrison in "The End."
One of The Doors' founding members, Ray Manzanek, died a couple of weeks ago so this is also an homage to him.
