And so Francisco Garcia goes the way of Kevin Martin. I'm beginning to wonder if no one else but Houston will answer Petrie's calls.

It looks like this could be a salary dump.
According to HoopsHype, both Honeycutt and Garcia had team options for next year.

While Aldrich expires next year and Douglas has a QO, Patrick Patterson's contract is gauranteed next year. The salary dump theory doesn't add up. The cash seems to be the best explanation.

lets not forget the Kevin Mchale is great with big men, he has a track record for developing big guys and recognizing big men with talent, for all we know he could have been propping up patterson only so he can fall on his face here, sort of like landry did. Mchale saw in Robinson what we saw flashes of this year and with a proper coach who knows how good T rob could have been, what a terrible trade.

Checked out Clutch City forum. They know very little about TRob... and the love the fact that they aren't giving up anything for somebody they have little knowledge about.

We can say the same thing about half our team. Reke, Cousins, IT, Trob, Thornton, JT would have been a GREAT core with a competent coach to give them proper leadership.

What pisses me off is not that they traded Robinson but that they could have had Drummond, Barnes, or Lillard. @&$^%%**%%#####!!!!!
What makes you think any of those guys would be any more successful than Trob was here? Lillard would be fighting Brooks and Jimmer for back-up minutes, Barnes would probably be getting PF minutes, and Drummond would be in the same situation Trob is in now.

The NBA countdown guys on ESPN just laughed at what the kings got :/

Makes me wonder, theres no way hansen/balmer would ok this move in my mind, maybe the magoofs think KJ is going to win at the BOG and they dont have to worry about Hansen and his crew anymore, especially since they already cashed his 30M check. just a thought.

This is definitely the result of Maloof tinkering and indeed a final "suck it sacramento" move. I am quite interested to see if this is approved. A #5 pick traded away.. boggles the mind. I think the last 3-4 deals we made (have they all been with Houston?? They always rip us a new one no wonder Houston loves trading with us) have all involved cash. I cannot wait until the Maloofs are gone. Good luck to T-Rob, this may have just saved his career and future development. Nice kid, bad loss for us.

I really wish people would just get over the "they could have had..." stuff. Who we could have drafted isn't the point right now. The point is that we traded away a #5 pick in the middle of his rookie season for no real reason and no improvement to the roster IMO.

This has the Maloof's grimy little fingerprints all over it.

The only thing that makes sense I mean the ONLY thing is to spread the floor more for Reke to be able to post up and have driving lanes. Thats all the sense I can make of it.

Unless TRob turns out to be a solid NBA player or Patterson is a reliable Bruce Bowens like SF, this trade means nothing. The Maloofs are squeezing as much money out of this team as they can, aren't they.

I seem to recall Patterson and DMC being friendly on the court. Can't hurt if they are friends. And to throw in a bit of nonesense, although I don't know anything solid about any of the players, I have decent memories of Patterson which of course is a stupid comment.

Otherwise, ditto to all the other posts. Bring on the new owners. I 've had about enough.

There are got to be some rules in place for a situation like this. No way would owners who be allowed to make trades when it's known they are selling. What's to stop them from unloading all the talent and collecting cash left and right? Can't imagine GP would be dumb enough to think this is a good trade to make the new owners want to keep him around.

We need more info on why they did this trade.

You forget that Smart still coaches this team.
Paterson will be given the green light to take it to the rim.
Aldrich will clog the lane...and not in a good way.
Don't forget about the 5 guard lineups!

Aldrich will clog the lane? Do ppl really think he will play meaningful time? We didn't trade Cousins, JT, or Hayes. Aldrich better rent thats all i can say. Maybe even a hotel room for a week or two if that.

I certainly agree that any deal that involves money flowing towards the owners who are selling should involve some NBA investigation. Couple this with selling a 2nd round pick and it is becoming clear that the Maloofs have more interest in their bank account than improving the team. THAT IS FLAT OUT WRONG!!!
