One of the things which came out of the meeting today is that a 2" by 2" patch for advertising will be allowed next year. Adam Silver is quoted as saying it could bring in as much as 100M per year for a team. From what I know about Euro soccer where advertising for jersey(shirt) sponsors is the norm, a lot of money can be made.
Not sure where exactly this should go. Not related to the arena or personnel moves, yet is still related to us, and I think makes it even tougher for the Maloofs to say they can't make money in Sac, with jersey advertising and revenue sharing now on the table.
An extremely conservative estimate, would be if team like LA and NY can approach the 100M mark per year for jersey advertising, maybe we can get 35-40M in the next year or two. I think estimates of the cut of revenue sharing we'd receive are around 20M, if not a little more. Well that conservatively could mean the Maloofs could now get 55M more in revenue per year than they could last year, or any years prior. Makes the case for leaving because you can't make money here a tougher sell.
John Schuhmann: 2" x 2" patch (advertising) on shoulder of jersey being discussed for next season. Teams are "excited" about it, according to Adam Silver.
Ken Berger: Silver says guidelines on jersey ads would be in effect for next season, but the ads wouldn't appear on jerseys until the following season.
Ken Berger: Silver says his sense is that every team is in favor of jersey ads in some form.
Ken Berger: Silver says it's very difficult to project, but believes teams could generate $100 million per year through jersey ads.
