Kings trade Landry to Hornets......

I'm actually glad that we're not getting Anderson. I can't stand his face ... he just looks so fish-like, and all he does is shoot jumpshots. /totallyuncalledformeanstreak.

So ... we traded Kevin Martin for the PF of Kevin Martins, and then traded the PF of Kevin Martins for a lesser version of the SG of the PF of Kevin Martins. Hey guys guess what we just traded Kevin Martin for noob, cheaper Kevin Martin!

Do you think Orlando would have gone for a Landry - Reddick swap?

And a heck of a lot of capspace!

This trade is now beginning to make a lot of sense. There is the minimal cap space gain which doesn't hurt but at a certain point, enough is enough. We need a replacement for Reke if only to have enough guards to have a practice. We needed to do one of two things: #1 get a major stud like Granger or Nene to makes us scary or #2 get a minimum wager to stumble through the rest of the year without total humiliation and get a higher draft pick. We may even have been doing Landry a favor. This makes far more sense than it did last night. The big move(s) is/are yet to come.

Who knows, with Taylor and Thornton, we may catch lightening in a bottle although I doubt it. Going forward, these are two good guys to fill out the bench and won't complain. They should be happy to have a job. This was not the situation with Landry.

Great teams have studs and role players satisfied to play a role.

We don't know that! Thornton is a FA but a restricted FA so if we do like him and see him as part of the future then we can match any offer he gets.

He is a 2nd year player with obvious flaws BUT he is more than capable of being a dynamic 6th man in this league that can score in a hurry in a number of ways!
I'm not arguing about Thorton's game or upside. I'm saying that for the critics of this deal, there's really no downside, and that's why it's a one-sided trade in favor of the kings.

We were also a team who was starting the likes of Spencer Hawes at the time and were in desperate need of interior scoring. Times change, we don't need his inside "presence" anymore, and we now need perimeter shooting, among many other things.
That and the fact that we plain don't have Evans and Garcia. For the rest of the season we need a shooting guard addition more than we need Landry at the four. Both in the trade are only under contract until season end. This trade is only useful if you want to see someone else play besides Head and Taylor.

Sorry to see Landry go. I lked him. Welcome Thornton, have great success with the Kings.

Pretty shocked about D-Will, we will be on ESPN Radio in 30min breaking it down. HOU thought they had a deal, almost sent DWill to SAC

Um...I have a hard time imagining what we could have offered them to match Favors/Harris without giving up Reke or Cousins. Our #1 certianly, but then...what would have gone with that? Beno?

Agree with you that he's not a finished product. I do think he is easily our best guard on the roster with Evans out. Yes even better than Beno.
He might be. Hope so. But he has to prove that to me before I believe it.

We have a team that plays guards differently than any other because of Tyreke's style. So, how any new guard will fit is a real open question. Here's hoping for the best.

Neither did Jerry Sloan...
Gotta believe that this must have been a decision made because of the SLoan incident, and maybe the resulting fan response. Otherwise why wouldn't you just tell Sloan a few weeks back "hey, hang in there for a month and we'll trade his *** and you won't have to worry about it anymore"? Had to be a new decision. And what huge sea changes in Utah after years of being right on the brink.

Wow. I just read that to. Dwill almost came to Sac through Hou. Doesn't sound like Petrie is done, or at least is really working behind the scenes.

WTF is going on in the NBA man! I come online to read D Will traded??? I was like....:0. What's this I'm hearing with him almost coming to Sac? For what? I don't Petrie would be idiotic enough to offer Reke/Cuz so I really don't understand how we were close to acquiring the likes of a Deron Williams. My god how awesome would of it been if that were to happen, OMG!

Apparently it was:

Sammy to the Rockets
Hill, Budinger, Casspi, 2011 Kings 1st Pick to the Jazz
DWill to the Kings

Rockets apparently assumed the deal was as good as made. We were THAT close to DWill/Reke/Cuz
