I remember telling a buddy of mine about being upset with what a journalist had to say on a topic. The friend reminded me that by and large they aren't the sharpest tool in the drawer. We're not talking rocket scientists here. You could make a case that they their "media face time" to intelligence quotient is the lowest of all occupations in our society (well, maybe politicians might be up there). This guy follows the rule..
I think it's "sharpest tool in the shed" or maybe "sharpest pencil in the drawer" or you could even say "not the brightest bulb in the lamp." ;)

I just had a horrible realization. I knew the last game of the year was at @ the Lakers...but for some reason I didn't think of it in this light.

If Tyreke were to somehow come up a couple points short because of that game, Laker fans would once again be able to have a hardy laugh at our expense. We as Kings fans wouldn't live that down for quite a while.

"SORRY KINGS FANS..ONCE AGAIN THE LAKERS SQUASHED YOUR DREAMS HAHAHAHAHAHA....THE LAKERS WEREN"T ABOUT TO LET THAT KIND OF HISTORY HAPPEN AGAINST THEM ON THEIR COURT... THIS iS OUR HOUSE"

This is what we would be hearing. Now, on the other hand, If Tyreke does indeed still need points in that game to achieve 20-5-5 and he gets it....maybe we mark that day as the day the spell of the Lakers getting the upper hand on the Kings was broken ....AND...we get to laugh at the Lakers that for years when they talk about Tyreke achieving 20-5-5 the replays of the final game of the season of Tyreke making the shot that sealed it will be in the Staples Center with a Laker being scored on.

Wouldn't it be awesome if the shot that seals it for Tyreke is against Kobe? Ahhhh...one can dream....

I've been thinking the exact same thing. But I think Tyreke is talented enough that it's going to be really hard to limit him to 16 points or whatever he needs, especially if he is aggressive in trying to score. It's been pretty obvious that the past few games he's been looking for his shot more and he's proving to us that he can pretty much do what he wants on the court. If he wants to be a playmaker and get 10 assists, he can do it. If he wants to score 25 points, he can do that too.

The other thing is the Lakers are going to be resting their core guys. There is no way Phil Jackson will play Kobe 40 minutes just so he can try to crush Tyreke's and Kings fan's dream of 20/5/5.

I think the resting depends on Orlando too. Right now the lakers have the same record as the Magic. I'm not sure if they care about getting homecourt over the Magic in case they have to face them in the finals.

If Tyreke averages 25.5pts in the next two games, his 20 point average will be locked up before we even play the Lakers. I wouldn't be surprised to see him very close to that.

Yes thats what I want to see. Reke had good games against the Mavs so I don't see why he would have trouble. I know they have Butler now but he shouldn't be able to lock down Tyreke. Battier is still out and should be out for the season unless there is a sudden improvement. I doubt the Rockets will risk it since they are already out of the playoff contention.

I want to keep getting better. When I come back next year, I'm going to have a midrange jump shot."- Tyreke Evans....

Just wanted to share what I thought was just another awesome and encouraging thing Evans said yesterday... this guys attitude is so sweet

That's very encouraging. And who would have thought, after last year's dismal season and being 'rewarded' with the fourth pick, we could actually say "Our first year point guard is having the best rookie season in a decade," and not sound like total homers?

Edit: Besides Gavin of course ;)

25.5 it is, we all want this tied up before the lakers. Dear god please dont let it come down to the lakers
Lakers really aren't that great a defensive team, and Reke scorched them last time we met. I want it done as soon as possible, but if he enters that one just needing to score 10-15 points I'm not really worried about them denying him.

Actually truth is he really only has to play one more game and then could take the last off and he would have the numbers "officially" (having played 70 games). Just one more strong game 25+ points iin the last three and its virtually inevitable. Only thing that could screw things up would be getting injured early in a game when he had only scored 5pts or something.

Hey, I just thought of something. I am probably not the first to think this but if Tyreke Evans was benched the remaining 3 games, he would have his 20/5/5 wouldn't he? Maybe he might have a slight injury that precludes him from playing against the Fakers??? Yea, I know they wouldn't do that but It is interesting. If he doesn't play he cant have his scoring average decrease. :D

I think he has to play 70 games for the stats to count. So theoretically, the could play tonight and then sit out the last 2. Not going to happen though.

If they pulled some kinda BS like that he'd probably be cheated out of the ROY and I'd actually be ok with it. He can do it on his own and he deserves the recognition of doing it without some kind of silly asterisk for stat manipulation.

I'm going to that laker game. Tyreke better play. I'd be so pissed if he didn't. If he was injured then oh well. But if they sit him out I'd be furious! :)

I see the Lakers game as a test for how much they think of us as a rival. If the Kings vs Lakers hate is shared by the Lakers, they will do two things; Let us win  and try to keep Reke from his 20-5-5.

I don't really see how they'll accomplish both at the same time.:p

If its the last game of the season and nothing is on the line for the Lakers, they play the starters minimal minutes and rest them for the playoffs. They could care less about Tyreke's rookie chase.

Every team that Evans has played against this year has tried to keep him from getting 20/5/5. It rarely ever works.

Just got done watching the Kings v Mavs game, i recorded it. Probably the 4th or 5th full kings game ive gotten to watch this year. Tyreke is even more impressive to watch for an entire game. Hes constantly in attack mode. You just know that once he adds some more NBA tricks and refines his game hes going to be unguardable.

I think Tyreke only needs 24 points total in the next 2 games. I believe he'll seal the deal against Houston. I will be very joyous.

Ian Thomsen of SI says he's voting for Jennings for ROY:mad:

Like so many biased east coast writers he has blinders on for this one likely seeing very little of Tyreke since most Kings games are past his bed time. Thomsen has been giddy on the little Milwaukee PG ever since he dropped 55 pts in a game earlier this season. With that in mind, I say heck with 'Reke "just" scoring total 24 pts or so in these last two games against Houston and LAL. Why not go for 40 or 50 in one or both of them!
