what was the last movie you watched?

I saw Signs for the first time last week. Thats right - first time. I liked it better than I thought I would. Not great, but better than I thought it would be.

Also saw The Lovely Bones two nights ago. Not my first choice of movies to see, but im used to it by now :) I liked it though. It was different. Some of the scenery was excellent. Cant really get into the plot though, dont want to give anything away. I havent read the book, and dont plan on reading it, so im not sure how fans of the book will like the movie. Its worth a watch.

As I was channel surfing, I stopped at the Golden Globe Awards and the movie Up just won an award for best animation. Cloudy with a chance of meatball got nominated in the same category.

Back to another channel other than the award show.

I watched I Love You Man and Monsters, Inc. yesterday. Liked both though Monsters Inc. probably is nowhere close to my favorite Pixar flick.

I think I read that Pixar has won best animated movie all 4 years the award has been given. Good track record!

Avatar won best drama and best director, BTW. :D

1.6 billion world wide. They are saying that it will break titanics record by the end of the this week coming up. I think it is safe to say that James Cameron will have a blank check when comes to making any movie he wants from now on.

They've actually given it out 8 times, Pixar has won for 4 of the 6 films released during that time. The two that didn't win were Monsters, Inc. and Cars. Up will be a lock this year (though Coraline was VERY GOOD).

Decided to look this one up in wiki:

The Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film was awarded for the first time at the 64th Golden Globe Awards in 2007. [1] It was the first time that the Golden Globe Awards had created a separate category for animated films since its establishment. The nominations are announced in January and an awards ceremony is held later in the month. Only three films are nominated for best animated film, in contrast to five nominations for the majority of other awards. The Disney Pixar film Cars was the first recipient of the award. The award for best animated film has subsequently been presented to three other Pixar films: Ratatouille received the award in 2008, WALL-E was the recipient in 2009 and Up received the award in 2010. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has been awarding Golden Globe Awards since 1944.

Two of the winners - Ratatouille and WALL-E - followed up their Golden Globes Awards wins by picking up the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Cars lost out in the 2007 Academy Awards to the Warner Bros. Pictures film Happy Feet. Ratatouille and WALL-E have also won the award for best animated film at the British Academy Film and Television Awards (BAFTAs) and all three have won numerous awards at other film ceremonies.
Maybe you were thinking the Academy Awards? Rock's comment and my response were regarding the Golden Globes.

Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus -- As a huge Terry Gilliam fan, I sadly didn't love this one quite as much as I wanted to. Enjoyed a lot of it, though. The cast was great, including Ledger and his three replacements, and there were some great ideas and visuals sprinkled throughout, but the story was... a little off. I would imagine that has a lot to do with how things were shuffled around in order to maximize the amount of useable footage from before Ledger's passing, but it was still unfortunate.

300. I don't know why, as I did see it in the theater. I actually saw it at IMAX, but I was in the lower corner of the seats and had a cruddy view. The view at home on my couch was better, but the movie didn't improve any. :p

Book of Eli. The movie wasn't bad (I enjoyed it), but after seeing the "twist" at the end, the movie really is hard to take too "seriously" with everything that happened. Don't want to spoil it for everyone, so I am just leaving it there.

I was hoping you'd see this and comment on it. I was also hoping they would have been able to pull off the drastic amount of rewriting, etc. they had to do just to get it done. The three stars who stepped in for Heath Ledger all donated their salaries to Ledger's young daughter so I hope Ledger fans support it even if it isn't quite what it might have been.

Barbarella, Queen of the Galaxy. What a colossal waste of time, except for the partial nudity of Jane Fonda (if you are so inclined, of course). But really, that is the ONLY redeeming feature of the film, and I mean ONLY.

I just watched Rocky IV for the first time ever. Corn ball...:p

I lost count how many times they hit each other in the head in that last fight. 60+? The training scene in the snow is pretty epic though :).

Nothing but the truth. This is a good movie if you like political drama. By the way, if I was a reporter, I sure wouldn't take it as far as Bekinsdale's character did in this movie.

Crossing Over - Had no idea what this movie was about, but I figured Harrison Ford and Ashley Judd were in it so it mustn't be that bad. Well, it was pretty good. Got to admit, it was kind of hard to follow but it came all together at the end. I must admit, I am no Ray Liotta fan.

Agreed. Different than other appocalypse movies, granted... but Oldman's character did not come across as any great or memorable villian... also,

At the very end of the movie, when Mila Kunis takes all his clothes and weapons and turn around heroically as she's leaving Alcatraz, I just thought it was the cheesiest freaking thing ever. I mean, 20 minutes ago this chick could not fend off two attackers and now she's going to trek hundreds of miles of barren wasteland filled with psychos with a blade, an old rusty gun and what looks to be an Ipod?? Good shooting by Eli considering he was blind. If Petrie could draft with perfect eyesight like Eli could shoot blind we'd be winning the championship every year. Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all night...

Saw "From Paris With Love" yesterday and while over the top at times, it was pretty entertaining and it is obvious John Travolta was enjoying himself through this one.

Just watched "9" - while somewhat engrossing and visually a work of art, not sure what to think of it as I am still not sure what the point was.

Did my yearly chick-flick with the wife thing and saw Valentine's Day on Friday. Not bad. Not good. Couple of laughs. I'm not a fan of Jennifer Garner, but she did a good job in this one. Predictable in pretty much every way imaginable.

I think the animators developed a really cool 'burlap texture' filter and were dying to try it out. ;)

Just watched More than a Game. It was OK.

Surrogates - One of those films that just kind of left me with an uncomfortable feeling at the end.

Like will all those surrogate bodies rot? Ewwwwww!

Avatar

I just watched avatar finally, I think i was the last person on earth to see it!
It was a good movie, very well done visually and a solid story.

I got a kick afterwards finding out that people actually have a syndrome called "Avatar Depression Syndrome". Its where people are severely depressed, because they cant live in the realm of Avatar called Pandora and they are stuck on earth... haha seriously?
