I still remember the episode that had The Presidents of the United States of America singing a science-y version of "Peaches," and the resulting awarding of double cool points. Rare when it happens, but Presidents became even more awesome in my eyes for being on the show, and the show also became more awesome for having them. It really was a thrilling moment.

I have that episode and love it. In fact, I have every episode!

Anyway, thanks for your restraint. I was banking on the fact that people would feel bad for taking Bill ahead of me. But I wasn't about to let it go any longer...actually, in retrospect, he should have been my last pick. I took a chance with that one...

Hmmm, time to switch things up a bit.



Aqua Teen Hunger Force - Cartoon Network (2000-Present) -- I had a different show all cued up and ready to take here, so I'll be pissed if someone else snatches it before my next pick, but since I keep missing out on all my animation picks I didn't want to risk this one any longer. This show is silly, stupid, and either hated or idolized by everyone I know (nothing in between), but I have to have it with me. Because they are the Aqua Teens, make the homies say "Ho!", make the girlies wanna scream. Number one in the 'hood, G.

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name and they are always glad you came. With my next pick I choose a true comedy classic from my era and something that I will definitely be able to watch over and over. ( The episode when Sam and Diane had a slap fight and then kissed was one of the greatest TV show scenes IMHO.) :D

Im pretty sure I could wait till a later round to select this, but Im not taking any more chances ..

With my fourth pick, I select The Ultimate Fighter (2005 - Present)

Dana White openly admits that the reason for the UFC's recent popularity growth is due to this TV show. Its deffinetly the reason why I started watching. Its it, is my opinion, the best reality show out there. Reality shows ( for the most part ) involve lots of fighting and alcohol, however in most shows if you touch another cast member you get kicked off. Not in TUF. They get to fight it out inside the Octagon.. ahhh I love it. Its so compelling to me, and after its all said and done you get to follow these fighters in there professional career .. its a great way to get to know the athletes and makes watching UFC a lot more entertaining.

This coming season should be a blast. Kimbo Slice ( Notorious street fighter ) is set to be on the cast, Im excited.

hmmm...this will be a guilty pleasures pick:

dawson's creek (1998-2003)

Aimed at a teenaged audience, the semi-autobiographical show is based on the small-town childhood of its creator Kevin Williamson (who also wrote the slasher film Scream). The lead character, Dawson Leery, mirrors Williamson's interests and background. Filmed in Wilmington and Durham, North Carolina, the show was set in a small fictional seaside town called Capeside, Massachusetts. It focused on four friends who were in the early part of their sophomore and first year of high school when the series began. The program, part of a new craze for teen-themed movies and television shows in America in the late 1990s, catapulted its leads to stardom and became a defining show for The WB.

Late Show with David Letterman (1993-present)

Note: Letterman actually has been on the air since 1982, and it was not clear whether tradepeja was trying to take that entire span or knew that there was some sort of break in 1993(change of networks maybe?). In any case, my fuzzy memories don't draw much of a line between the two eras.

I think he chose 1993 because it's the CBS version, as opposed to the version on NBC - different show title, etc.

This may be a little early, but with my 5th round pick, Im going to go ahead and take E:60 (2007 - Present)



Hands down my favorite show on ESPN and absolutely the only one where I learn anything substantial. There are a lot of things wrong with ESPN and some of there programming, but this show is great. The cast is smart ( Im a big Micheal W. Smith fan) and they make all of the stories interesting even if its about something I dont really care for.

I should backtrack for those who arent familiar with the show. Its kind of an ESPN version of 60 minutes, but different. Its 60 minutes long, but its a bunch of different stories from around the world with a sports backround. The editing is fantastic and the stories are interesting.

For example, this weeks episode had a 20ish minute segment with Plaxico Burress where they sat down and talked with him just a few days after he agreed to spend 2 years in prison. I though I knew all of the details before the interview just by reading around the web and whatnot. A few of the things they said I hadnt herd before, and honestly I dont think he should be spending THAT much time in prison for what he did .. but thats a whole nother issue for a whole nother thread =]

I am a true fan of this show. From the very first audition to the very end, this is by far one of my favorite shows! I can't help but love Simon's insults "that was horrible"! And Randy, "you did your thing dog"/ I am a little sad that Paula is gone but it will not stop me from watching.


How could you not watch with talent like this!

The show I put on hold to grab a silly cartoon about talking foodstuffs was



Mad Men - AMC (2007-Present) -- This is one of very few shows I've come across that manages to have all the silly drama one would want out of such a diversion while staying really smart. Well written, well acted, period perfect (even going so far as refusing to hire actors/actresses with plastic surgery, as it would make them instantly recognizable as modern) not only in its production details but also its framing and camera work, and damn is it ever pretty. This show in HD on a big HDTV is every bit as gorgeous to look at as a film.

Oh, and
this doesn't hurt, either.

Definitely on my list. Had to be, just because of Barney Stinson. However, there still another, rather similar show out there that I would want to pick ahead of this one, so it was further down on my list.

On my radar as well. Have watched a couple of episodes and while I can appreciate the production value and the acting, I can't really get warm with this show. Had it dropped any further, I'd have maybe watched the full first season to see if I'd just need more time with it, but alas, this won't be necessary.

Wanting to see something blow up, Spock turned my T.V. to something he called a primitive 21st century human reality show. He laughed at the screen the whole time, watching some goofy looking guys and a hot girl prove things wrong (in silly ways) with science. Vulcans weren't supposed to have a sense of humor, were they?

THE COSBY SHOW (1984-1992)



I'm a bit surprised this classic didn't go earlier. I'm not much of a sitcom person, but this was always a favorite of mine as a kid. It was obviously an important show in terms of what it meant for African Americans on television, but it also paved the way for a lot of modern family sitcoms like Raymond, etc. You could always rely on The Cosby Show for good, clean comedy.

Great show. I love me some Bill Cosby. There was amazing chemistry between Bill and Phylicia Rashad. Nice pick.

Pushing Daisies (2007-2009)

Once again, quality over quantity. Yes, there are only two seasons of the show before it was cut short, but I love these two seasons so they had to be picked. Also, my list needed some wholesomeness, as the Pythons and Six Feet Under are clearly on the opposite side of that spectrum and none of the others make you feel very warm and fuzzy inside either. Pushing Daisies, however, does that and does it quite well. All the characters are very likeable, the stories tend to be resolved in a cute happy ending (minor hickups notwithstanding) and the whole world is only separated from kitsch by one or two degrees. In fact, the whole kitsch and cotton candy aspect of the show is very appealing to me, because I always had the impression that it was an attempt to subvert the wholesomeness throgh irony and, although I like wholesomeness, I like it even better when a show knows what it stands for and can make fun of itself. And the producer also has a clear preference for cleavage...not lost on me either...
