So Ordinary That It's Truly Quite Extraordinary

Tedy Bruschi announced his retirement today. Damn.

Also Pats cut Kevin O'Connell, I guess not a surprise based on his preseason but he was the highest QB picked in NE since Drew Bledsoe.

I'm sorry supe, but the cowboys are not winning the NFC east. I think the giants and eagles are both better and the additions of orakpo and haynesworth in Washington make that defence scary as hell

That's the most competitive division in the NFL, so it really could go anyway. I am not sold on the Cowboys winning that division, to be honest; I think the Giants are probably the favorites, with the Eagles right behind them. But anything could happen there, and it's not like the Cowboys don't have a talented team.

Even though I'm a diehard Cowboys fan, the reality is every team in the NFC East has some major flaws. The Eagles IMO, even though I despise them, have the early season momentum and drive to carry them to the East title.

I also feel that they have made the biggest improvements out of all the NFC East teams.

A lot of people are high on the Eagles, but what improvements have they made? I can only think of two: drafting LeSean McCoy, and Desean Jackson's second year expected to be big. Other than that, they lost their defensive coordinator, their middle linebacker, and their All-Pro safety. Brian Westbrook makes that offense go, and he's pretty much a lock to miss 2-3 games a year. I like McNabb, but he doesn't have a lot of targets. I don't expect Vick to make them a better team. They're already good, but I'm not in love with them like a lot of people seem to be.

and what's wrong with the giants? Losing burress? Idk, I don't think it's that big a loss. Maybe losing spagnuola hurts a bit but that defence is talented. They still have their workhorse running back trio. They'll be fine and will win the division at 11-5

Their offense took a step back when they lost Burress last season, but having an entire offseason to work around that should help. They lost Derrick Ward to the Bucs, so they don't have the trio, but they always have good backs. Jacobs and Bradshaw should do just fine. The defense will be just as good without Spags. Maybe not '07 playoffs good, but as good as they were last year. They get Umenyiora back from injury, added Michael Boley, and should be okay.

I could see them winning 11 games. But that's the thing, I can see everyone in that division winning 11 games. I think the Cowboys are ready to take advantage of the talent they have, and win the division. Don't go to Vegas on my picks, but I stand by that one.

I knew one of those backs had left but wasn't quite sure lol. I just think romo is not really good under pressure. And seeing as how all those teams can bring pressure I can see Dallas turning the ball over multiple times against their division oponents. We'll see though, i've never been a big fan of offseason predictions when it comes to the NFL cause there's always that surprise team(dolphins) and there's always an underachieving team(cowboys). And this is not neccissarily an "any given Sunday" approach, I just think we can never really know for sure how these teams are coming together in training camp and all that and who are some surprsing players

Vick back in Week Three
http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/09/03/vick-reinstated-for-week-3/

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell informed Eagles QB Michael Vick on Thursday that he will be reinstated for the third game of the regular season, reports Jason La Canfora.

Goodell met with Vick earlier today, a meeting that also included Eagles coach Andy Reid. Goodell said he also spoke at length with former NFL coach Tony Dungy, who has served as a mentor to Vick in recent months.

“Ultimately, it was my decision,” Goodell told a group of national media members on Thursday.

Asked why he decided on the third week of the regular season versus regular-season opener, Goodell responded: “I do not want him to be put in a position where he’s overwhelmed.”

Goodell also said Vick understood the ruling.
Note: I didn't start a new thread because of the way the last one went. Anyone commenting on this topic needs to be mindful that this is intended to be a family friendly site.

Hmmm. I do see your points. Maybe I'm just sure that Philly's got the East wrapped up because they always seem to make my life miserable.

However, I did forget about the loss of Jim Johnson. I think that will have a major effect on that team. If Philly doesn't win the East - it will be NY.

Wow... Pats trade Richard Seymour to the Raiders? Jeeez, now I can't even wish him luck in his future :(

In other news looks like AJ Feeley has been released from the Eagles which might trigger some action amongst the teams that had their QBs banged up in the preseason.

And Merriman appears to have proven the haters right, arrested for assaulting Tila Tequila.
