Summer league stats are meaningless. Evans has look pretty good on the defensive end through these first few games. Jennings does a great job of using his quickness into those passing lanes. I think both guys are ahead of the curve defensively as far as rookie point guards go.
Not enough that a guy is just ours -- we've had this discussion before. If he is just ours, but he sucks, then he sucks and people should admit he sucks.
But the key thing here is that Tyreke Evans most defienitely did nto suck in that first half. There are some people wiht an agenda around here, but that was impressive and in control. Not going to be a brillaint thread the needle passer. But he was executing a lot of PG 101 stuff just like it was second nature. Drive and kick. Pick and roll with the pass over the top. Spacing on the break etc.. A few TOs trying to force the post offense, bt otherwise very nice.
And as an aside, Brandon Jennings takes a lot of heat, and should -- he's an idiot. But he was playing very active and pesky defense in that first half, and that could make all the difference for him. Could keep him ont he floor while he learns the ropes, where if he were jsut a sloippy offensive player who did not give adamn on defense he might end up pinned ot the bench and sulking.
Jennings also has 4 fouls .. you get fouls and you get steals when you gamble like that, he would have been out of the game by now if it were the real deal.
Im not really disagreeing with you though, I like what I have seen from Jennings defensively, but at the same time, Evans has shut down his scoring, so I consider it even when it comes to defense.
One more note - Jennings should have more assists than he does .. although he did get 3 cheap ones by the big dude from polands' open threes.

2 bringing the ball up. That's the concern. Now get cp3, billups, baron, deron pressuring him and see how many they get. Like I said above. Garcia will be key this year with the ball.
Summer league doesn't prove that anyone is going to make it in the NBA, or Douby wouldn't be in the SL's top 10 scorer's list. And Rubio's not even playing in the summer league. We're not going to know much at all about Evans vs Rubio for at least a couple of years.

I agree here. If he sucks, then let's talk about it. But, 2 & 1/2 VSL games is certainly not a measuring point for a career and/or the solidity of a draft pick.
This is the first time I have seen Jennings and he is impressing me. Probably a low percentage score for the next couple of years but his passing ability is very impressive. Despite his size he also mixes it up defensively. That will really help him stay on the floor while he puts the rest of his game together.
