This could be a complete disaster, but I'll give it a shot. I'm in.

Woohoo! And we are whole again.

Per a suggestion I received, I think its only fair you have until the end of this genre round before you have to pick a way to go. We've been thinking about this longer than you have. Of course since we have been rolling right through, that still might leave you picking later this evening, but still, if you need the extra time, just anytime before we start the first round of actors.

I select Drama as my genre.

Sorry, I missed DimeDropper's pick and thought he was still up. Obviously I haven't been thinking about this, but I know I have to go Drama. It may get more specific, but that will require planning...

Random question that popped into my head:

Since so many Hollywood types are multi-taskers, how much flexibility is there in eligibility? If someone who does all three is taken as an actor, would he still be available to a 2nd and 3rd person as a writer and director?

Hmmm...but no...I think its probably better if not. We're a bit more artifiical here than the Dream Team Draft, where teams were actually supposed ot be paying each other -- obviously an actor can make multiple movies coming out close together. But I think maybe the way to look at this is that all of these are in production simulataneously and will all be released pretty close together, so no time for peep to do more than one, even in different roles.

So on the flipside, can one team put the same individual to dual use?

Sigh -- I thought of that when the other question was aksed but decided to not raise it in the hope nobody would, but noooo, you people are pesky. ;)

So let's just say no for draft purposes -- otherwise you could more or less reserve somebody for yourself. You take actor X in rnd 2, and you would know that nobody else could ever take him, so you could freely wait all the way until Rnd 11 to make him director too. Just doesn't work. So no, one person, one role, for everybody. We've only got 100 years of film to work with here -- can probably find an adequate replacement. ;)

Well, that's just peachy keen...

I had a child actor in mind who became an actress in later life before switching to directing. When he/she died and was resurrected in the next life as a German shepherd with an inherent ability to write scripts, my joy knew no bounds. Now, because of the unyielding stubborness of the Global Emperor, I have to totally rethink my whole concept.

Well if it helps any, I'm pretty sure reincarnation resets the clock and you could take them as the dog. We're drafting actors here, not immortal souls. ;)

Kingsnation knew he might be away from his computer and PMd me earlier about his genre choice.

So Kingsnation genre choice = Romantic Comedy.

I am surprised Slim did not beat him to it.

And while I had numerous ideas, and there is one gnere in particular where there are three movies which I absolutely think they should make, and where I figured I would be safe because I could always switch amongst them depedning on available cast, I was suddenly struck by inspiration this morning, so my choice is:

Comedy

Damn -- should have stuck with my orignal genre --would have been the only one. ;)

Ok, anyway, I'm going to PM venom_7 again and we will get the main draft started as of...well now basically. It will just be the standard 24hrs unless it starts to drag for some reason. Note peeps there are three mods in this draft, so if you know you aren't going to be able to make a pick, and your pick comes up before a particular mod's pick, go ahead and drop them a PM so they can pick for you on time. You can fill in the details/explanation later if you want.

If my pick wasn't so high, I would have gone there; I feel like I still have a shot at one of my two top concepts.

and the first pick, my pick is:

Edward Norton

I actually struggled with this one because I think he is very one-dimensional as an actor, but I need him for the lead role in this flick, and the lead role happens to be the one dimension that he is very good at.

Maybe not worthy of the first pick in most cases, but I need him for the film and he probably won't make it back to me. The other parts can be filled with various different actors/actresses, but the lead role HAS to be Norton.

Norton's actually one of my favorite actors. I love almost all of his movies. Aside from the movies Jespher mentioned, I also liked him in The Italian Job and Rounders. Fight Club was probably his best though.

Like you said venom, definitely high to take him, but this draft is so dependent on our ideas that some greats may not even get taken.

I'm in a bit of a quandry, I must admit. I've been so regularly stuck with a late draft position that I was counting on having considerably fewer of my leading lady choices available. Hopefully one or two of them will be left when this thing gets back to me, as my genre needs girls, but I'm not counting on it. In either case, my first pick is:

Scarlett Johansson -- Not the Oscar caliber actress that some folks like to believe, but The Spirit showed that she's definitely got the sense of humor necessary for camp. And I think we could all agree she's got the... ahem... assets necessary to pull off the costumes usually associated with my genre choice.

Interesting... now I find myself filled with the sense of dread: if last year's drafts are any indication, I will end up getting pinched for my #2, without which, this movie concept will not work well.

Nevertheless, the only star I really need is the one I'm about to take so, without further ado, the star of my movie:

Ouch. Like a knife through the heart.

That's okay. I knew she wouldn't get back to me. I don't associate Angie with exploitation flicks as easily as I used to, or else she would have been my first choice. Which, I'm sure, comes as a surprise to no one.

I am stunned... the rest of this draft will be about as anti-climatic as going into The Sixth Sense knowing Bruce Willis is dead.
