She - Green Day - Dookie

[yt=She - Green Day]R8ELuhLraWg[/yt]

How did I end up getting this far without any Green Day?? There are SO many songs of theirs I'd be happy with. But I ultimately had to go with something from Dookie...and this song is one of those ones that always makes me crank the mp3 player and sing out loud.

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Pick #27, and I'm going with a simple favorite. This song is hard enough to feel the beat, and soft enough to play in a medical clinic...Gotta love it

Pick #27: I Won't Back Down (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) Full Moon Fever (1989)

I actually thank you for this. I mentioned in the album draft that this song has followed me around everywhere I have gone for twenty years now. I was contracturally obligated to take it if it were still out there. (Mildly surprised anybody else did actually). Now I can semi-legitimately say oh darn, somebody else nabbed it, and go take something else.

I don't know what it is, but Tom Petty just bugs me. No particular reason, I can think of. Some folks just rub you the wrong way. I think his music does that with me....

Hrmm. Brick seems to feel that way about all neo-soul music. ;)

I can relate, though, as I feel the same way about country; I could try to explain it, but when you come down to it, I basically hate it for no "good" reason.:eek:

I'm actually not a huge fan of his either, but I love Mary Jane's Last Dance, plus a few others. Other than that, meh..

And yeah Slim, aside from Johnny Cash, I feel the same way about country

Kingzrool is out for a few days and I will be out tomorrow morning on an overnight trip and back on Sunday. Please behave yourselves and be nice. :p

MKF is up tomorrow morning at 7 am if MBF hasn't picked yet. I'll PM MKF to give a heads-up. Neither I nor Kingzrool should be up again before I get back.

Moving along ..

Angels & Airwaves - Call to Arms

[yt=Angels & Airwaves - Call to Arms]SbcwlH-Qimk[/yt]

Angels and Airwaves is half of what was blink 182 ( The other half being +44) Blink is bacially my favorite band of all time .. Tom Delonge of Blink formed A&A. This song, off of there second album is my favorite song by them ...

The video is actually pretty funny, its not the official video because this song doesnt have one .. it has nothing to do with the song but its kinda cool..

Yeah, I try not to label myself as into any particular music style, because i just like what sounds good to me.I'm probably more inclined towards a harder style of rock if you know what I mean, but i started listening to AvA not to long ago and I really like them, and Call to Arms is one of there best songs, even thoe I think they are all good. I like them much better than Blink 182 who trys to be to punk, and Delonge said he's planning AvA's album to be more of a punk style which I'm kind disappointed about. To the point, good pick from my point of view at least.

Another all time favorite that I could just have easily picked in my first couple of picks.

To end round 27, I pick a song that grabbed me the very first time I ever heard it and still gets my attention:

Black Velvet - Alannah Myles

I had to ask KG4 who does this song because I know very little about him, but I like this song. To start Round 28, I go with:

Had a Bad Day - Daniel Powter

Was just talking about that song a few weeks back. #1 hit of all of '89, and loved the sultry feel. If I'd thought of it I might have added it to get a little bluesy feel into my lineup.

"Mercy" - The Collins Kids (1958)
[yt=Mercy]hGKgTRQwl_E[/yt]
Say what you will about family acts, here's one that really rocked. One really important thing to note here is that Larry Collins who played guitar on this cut was 14 when this was released, his sister Lorrie on vocals had yet to hit 16. And it was 1958, the dawn of rock and roll.

I saw them a few years back and they are still as rockin as ever.

in a stroke of coincidence....itunes selects for me one of my few Petty tunes

Free Fallin - Tom Petty - Full Moon Fever

Not sure what it is about this song, but it's um..perhaps I may have mentioned before, is one of a handful of his songs that aren't duets that I have. I also fancy the John Mayer cover as well, so it may very be something about the song that hooked me.

Lights - Journey - Infinity

There's something to be said for this song, a convertible, and a drive up highway 1 between Gualala and Mendocino. That's a good day.

Sorry, Kingzrool...

Yes, another one of their beautiful songs -- but that outfit has to go. :p
