Someday I Suppose - Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Don't Know How to Party (1993)

Continuing my horns theme...it was a tossup between a couple of Bosstones songs for this pick, so I went with the one that I did not already take in the albums draft. This was the one that initially got me into them, and came out at a time when they were still much closer to the "core" side of their ska-core meld. Raucus, fun, appeared in the movie Clueless as well (in fact so did the Bosstones -- they were the party band).

The New Year - Death Cub For Cutie - Transantlanticism (2003)

Bringing this one up few rounds early, while I rework my list.

Up The Bracket - Libertines - Up The Bracket (2002)

I am on the record (in album draft thread) saying that I completely detest this whole neo-punk craze (emo's, punk-pop and various other wannabes of this decade). However, if you're going to do it, do it right like Libertines did. Borrowing heavily and being almost 100% derivative is OK as long as you have talent to back it up and Libertines definetly do/did.

You've Got to Hide Your Love Away - The Beatles - Help! (1965)

Now taking two songs from any band in a draft with this much of a crunch in it is highly questionable, but if an exception is going to be made, The Beatles are one of those type of groups (and I am not even that enormous of a fan). In any case, this is right there as my 1a favorite all time song of theirs, and with Let It Be as much cultural touchstone as song, I feel perfectly comfortable taking it here. Also one of the few oldies that basically has itself an actual music video (from one of The Beatles movies back in the 60s).

Some of you probably wondered why I asked what the policy was regarding language in this draft prior to my second round pick, and then promptly went ahead and drafted Rapper's Delight. Well, obviously, I wasn't thinking about that pick...

I was thinking about this one:

Would You Mind - Janet Jackson - All For You - 2001

Singapore banned the sale of this album because of this song. Me... I think it's great.

I am out of town without my list, but so I don't hold this thing up I will try to pick something quickly.

Give me a couple minutes....

Well, this was one of those aternates I was trying to figure out whether to include but in honor of the recent OKC announcement, I figured what the heck, I could use some AC/DC......

Thunderstruck - AC/DC

Running though my list and noticed this is still here. I had long forfeited it in my mind, but, alas, its still available! Sweet!

What A Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong - single

Louis' raspy voice is just perfectly on display in this song and is one of the most recognizable things in music to this day. You can't go long watching TV or movies without hearing this song and its just one of those songs in a couple hundred years that everyone will know but very few will know who wrote. Think like "Buffalo Cows Won't You Come Home Tonight" but musically appealing :D

Great pick, tradepeja...

Here's my next one:

In My Room - The Beach Boys - Surfer Girl

Really, really, REALLY good song. Timeless. Just awesome.

I already picked What a Wonderful World, but as a cover by Iz. Anyways...

Pick #19, and I'm turning up the volume a bunch! I can't believe the lack of Led Zeppelin picks, so I'm adding to this total today (Thank you all :)). Here's another classic hard rock tune. Enjoy.

Pick #19: Rock and Roll - Led Zeppelin - IV

I Know - Dionne Farris - Wild Seed-Wild Flower

[yt=I Know]gHsJe94TdhA[/yt]

Just love this song. Not exactly sure why...because it's uptempo and catchy? because the band always looked like it was having a good time jammin for the video, that she's dancing in between a row of urinals in it?... I dunno...sometimes there are just things in life you can't explain... :)

sorry for taking a little longer than usual with this pick, anyways .. my next selection is ...

Coldplay - Clocks

[yt=Coldplay - Clocks]c9j_RZDqYc4[/yt]

well, theres my second and probly last coldplay song of this draft .. the band itself is interesting .. they kind of have there own distinct sound and I rarely come across a person who doesnt enjoy there music . I could probly name 10 or so songs from them that could easily make this list for me ..

To end this round, I'm going with a song I'm pretty sure would be safe...but I'd be really unhappy if I didn't have it.

You Make My Pants Want to Get Up and Dance - Dr. Hook

And, in the same vein, to start Round 20 I'm going with another toe-tapping oldie...this time by the Contours.
