Its goin at about a 1.5-2 pick a day pace, and thats perfect for me. Any faster and I'd be paranoid of missing a pick and holding everyone up.

Er, no that WOULD be too slow. People would lose interest and doze off and quit checking the thread.

But this thread has managed 141 picks now in only 22 days of being active (started July 17). That's 6.4 picks/day, and I think the fastest any of these things have gone. Get from one end of the snake to the other in only 3 days. Also makes extending it out to 30 picks practical in a way it would not be if it were really crawling.

Do think that makes the occasional 12 hour dealy only a little more obvious though, as you go realtively screaming along with half a dozen picks in the morning, and then when you have to wait a few hours for the next one, it feels more obvious.

Yup. Just compare it to the video game draft, which started roughly the same time as this one, and is 3 rounds behind

Do think being stuck on one end of the draft board does make it seem to relatively drag though. Been experiencing that in the video game draft. Person in the middle of this draft is picking every 3 days. Person at one far end is picking once (well twice) every 6.

i ment 1.5 to 2 picks per person.....not overall. haha. Yeah 2 picks in one day would be painstakingly slow.

Well now that where going to 30 picks im going to start picking the first good song that pops into my head, i think my taste is a little different from everyone elses so we'll see how this strategy goes ..

round 9? .. selection ..

Orange Sky - Alexi Murdoch

Here is where i admit a guilty pleasure. The OC ( former hit show on fox, for those who dont know) That show had incredible music to the point where they released 6 soundtracks for it. This song is obviously popular for other reasons but The OC is what got me into it. This will be the first of many songs off those OC soundtrack CD's.

Ok then...
"Highway Star" - Deep Purple (Machine Head - 1972)
[yt=Highway Star]XOEvm1bAQi4[/yt]
I used to wake up nearly every morning to this tune being played on 93 Rock. By the time the guitar solo kicked in at about 3:45 I was ready to face my day. Its still one of my favorite guitar solos to this day. Also songs about cars and girls rule.

Great pick. This was on my list even though I already have a Deep Purple song. And the solo is really good too. Almost as good as Free Bird :p

Okay, to finish off round 9, I'm going way back into the archives for one of my all-time favorite "road" songs.

Let's make it 4 speed-flavored tunes in a row... This one was voted the greatest driving song ever by viewers of UK's Top Speed.
"Don't Stop Me Now" - Queen (Jazz - 1978)
[yt=Don't Stop Me Now]58CJih1iYC0[/yt]
This may not actually be my favorite Queen song, but its just so much fun... and just in case the rocket ship didn't conjure up enough phallic imagery for you he spells it out in the song's next lines.

Ok, while waiting for VF I did a little research and found out that this tune apparently has some ridiculous cult following in South Korea of all places, where it is frequently played back to back at karaoke venues. I realize they do things differently over there, but that's outrageous.

Plus this is a tune that you can go out and make a ridiculous cover of, shoot a way over the top video and have it barely register on the irony meter, like the Vandals did in 2004.

[yt=Wonderwall - Oasis]FAPtTS0TYtU[/yt]

well now that was quick...

ipod wants me to select next...

California Love - 2Pac - All Eyez on Me

[yt=California Love]FWOsbGP5Ox4 [/yt]
mix...Mad Max video, Roger Troutman (RIP) and Dr. Dre to some 2Pac and this is what you get...I'm not too big on a lot of rap outside of the 80s, but this is one of my favorites.

Sacramento, Sacramento where ya at? :)

U n me both. This was the next rap song on my list, but was unsure when I was gonna break it out.

Pick #10, and grabbing another all time great while I can. I love the guitar riff, great vocals, and a powerful subject matter. While I've never been afflicted by drug addiction, I have several friends with drug disorders, and the message hits home. For pick #10, I pick:

The Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge

[yt=The Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge]cHcGmhvDlCY[/yt]

Next pick...it's MINE!

Beastie Boys - Intergalactic

[yt=Beastie Boys - Intergalactic]GDS83yrM30Y[/yt]

I was torn between this song and another great Beastie's song, but I ultimately chose this one because it is one of the most often played songs in my entire music collection. Great song, great video...
