Tropical Island IPOD Singles Draft Thread - Pending playoffs

And so karma bites me on the head. I accidentally start one of the most pointless conversations ever in the video game draft and bozzwell takes my (probably) favorite song of all time.

I would have blasphemously taken the Love version as its exactly the same except in full stereo.

As an aside, Hello Goodbye is probably my least favorite Beatles song of all. So, the Jonas Brothers version really doesn't even sound that much different. Except they kind of mucked the outro which is the only noteworthy part of the song.

You let the Jonas Brothers bother you that much? :)
I have kids. :) It was a close call, but luckily my 10 year old has Beatles "1" on her iPod and educated 8 and 5 year old about the fact that it's a Beatles song. I can't be everywhere all the time. What if something happens to me? Whose gonna tell them what is right and what is wrong?

So Ordinary That It's Truly Quite Extraordinary

I guess you can laugh at me in about 5 years. Right now I'm too worried about the impending shift to single income to concern myself about what happens the day my son comes home from kindergarten singing a boy band tune, but I suspect there will be a "talk" :)

Congrats! That's cool.

Word of advice: Don't worry about single income shift. You won't have time for anything remotely cool, fun and costly. ;)

Star - The Roots - The Tipping Point

I picked Tipping Point in my albums draft almost entirely on the strength of this one song (the album is very good too, but maybe not as great as some other Roots/hip hop albums I could have picked). I just love everything about it, the beats, the lyrics, the lot.

Providing only a link due to explicit lyrics:

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Well after a brief hesitation, I would be foolish not to:

[yt=Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan]xMPNKYH6VTE[/yt]

Like A Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan - Highway 61 Revisited (1965)

So I'm taking the #1 ranked song of all time on Rolling Stones' Top 500 Songs list as my #11 pick, and that it was still out there was quite a surprise. This was the song that I needed to have after DMass nabbed Fast Car, which is my other favorite downbeat folk/rock epic. Tells the story of a rich college girl who loses everything to drugs and is reduced to selling herself on the street, and lyrically was so far superior to the simple rock of its day that it changed the rules of the game forever. Greatest song of all time? Don't know about that. But it is amazing.

You're really surprised that its still here despite not a single Dylan album going in 20 rounds of the album draft?

That was what was surprising.

Got to keep the party going... Another upbeat dance track. In fact, in a way, it's the ultimate dance track:

[yt=Yes I Do!]iUiSkgkkr0A[/yt]

Candy - Cameo - Word Up! - 1987

Why is it the ultimate dance track? Because if you've been to a black wedding in the last twenty years, you have danced to this song... and it was probably the Electric Slide. In fact, I knew that the song had crossed over when I went to a Navy Ball a few years ago: seeing a bunch of forty/fifty-something white officers and chiefs doing the Electric Slide to this song was nothing short of fascinating.

Next couple of rounds, though, look for a few more changeups...

Apparently Launchcast thinks I need country on my island.

SO... I end up with Now That I Found You-Terri Clark- How I Feel

My next pick is my favorite Oasis song, before D-Mass possibly takes it.

[yt=Champagne Supernova In The Sky]jlDsQgJaZZw&feature=related[/yt]

Champagne Supernova - Oasis - (What's The Story) Morning Glory?

I wanted to take it next round but you had 2 picks before my next one, and I couldn't help but notice you said you may have some Oasis to come. Didn't wanna take the chance
I don't blame you at all. Most of my picks were made after changing my order around at the last second...I'm always concerned that someone might take my songs.

Give It Away - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood Sugar Sex Magik

I just groove off of this tune. It was everywhere when it came out.

Grrff, I liked the Modest Mouse pick, but this song always grated on my very last nerve. :p Which was unfortunate because you are right about it being everywhere there for a while.

Hrmm... You must be using the free version. I asked because I use the subscription version, which is transitioning to Rhapsody at the end of the month.
