Cousins extension?

Do you agree with the extension?

If this is really happening, which it appears it is, I think it's time to go all in on John Wall. Then we find some guys who can shoot the ball and stretch the floor, and we might be on to something here.
Unless Washington offers J. Wall 200M as well in which case it's most likely not going to happen.

i do see us exploring bringing in wall/bledsoe - only after we've locked up cousins.

really if you get one of them thats key. The other would be a much easier to sell knowing two of his good mates are running and gunning together and he is somewhat missing out.

lets face it. Washington and Phx aint no closer than we are to winning so come win here

Question though: if he makes Third Team All NBA this summer would he become eligible for it? Doubtful in a year of monster performances but his numbers are up too.
I can't claim to be a guru on this subject. Just read some articles. But I did dig some info from this Washington Post article which states two ways a player can be eligible:
1. He makes one of the three all-NBA teams or is named either defensive player of the year or most valuable player the previous season.
2. He has made one of the three all-NBA teams or has been named defensive player of the year in two of the prior three seasons or the league’s most valuable player in one of the three prior seasons.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...-bargaining-agreement/?utm_term=.6678bd9eaeaf

So, we have to keep our fingers crossed that he does not receive these qualifying accolades to have a better shot at stealing him from Washington.

Well that settles it let's get J. Wall and Bledsoe.
Right?!:)

For reference here were the three all-NBA teams last year. We have to hope that Wall does not make any. It looks like Harden will likely make it in this year, though players like Lillard and Klay T might be vulnerable.

[Edit: Gotta figure Isaiah Thomas is gonna make it this year too and Double edit: Derozan and maybe even Wade are contenders too.]

Why do people on here seem to think that John Wall is available? Just because Boogie says he wants to bring him to Sacramento doesn't necessarily mean it will happen, it's wishful thinking. Wall is having himself a hell of a season so far, he is continuing to get better and better with the jumpshot too. He is not available, he is playing like a franchise player this season. Let's stop this nonsense and start talking about players that are realistic.

How many players in the history of the NBA have signed a max deal without ever having experienced a winning record or a playoff game?

Also, how many players in the history of the NBA became the highest paid in the league without ever having experienced a winning record or a playoff game?
Does it really matter? This isn't singles tennis where success and failure rests upon the shoulders of just one. This is a team sport where numerous others, including the front office, factor in. The fact that Cousins hasn't experienced winning records or playoff games shouldn't exclude him from anything since others failing at their job has played such an enormous factor in why those things have yet to occur.

But to answer your first question, you could list pretty much every top draft pick prior to the changes that yielded rookie contracts. They would often begin their career as the highest paid player on the team or somewhere near the top. In 1994, Glenn Robinson signed a 10-yr contract worth 68M (big deal back then) before ever stepping on to the court. That was the compromise to the 13-yr 100M contract he had been seeking.

Hope you all enjoy complaining about how Cousins has no talent around him when all we can afford is middle-of-the-pack vets
That's all anybody else will be able to afford too.

And its kind of irrelevant, because that's all that will sign here anyway, UNLESS, having a stable Boogie franchise piece might in time attract a play with Boogie friend. That's nothing to count on though, and not really 100% needed. You can absolutely build complete teams around a single star. You just have to, amazingly enough, make good moves.

Have you perused some of the threads in the Personnel Moves section lately? :p

I wouldn't bet the farm (maybe the old barn) on it but it's possible. If Cuz and Wall really are BFF's there's a chance.

Just thought it was interesting. Maybe it is a first.

Dwayne Wade led the Heat to the playoffs with little talent.

Roster 2008-2009

Roster 2009-2010
Little talent but a fantastic assortment of 3-and-D role player dudes (Jamario Moon, Quentin Richardson, Dorell Wright, etc) , old washed up former all-stars milking the last couple of ounces of success from their brittle bones (Jermaine O'Neal and Shawn Marion at various times), scrappy defensive role player big men who knew how to stay out of D-Wade's way on offense (a surprisingly productive Udonis Haslem and Joel Anthony), rookie Michael Beasley back when people thought he could one day become an all-star, and of course Pat Riley and Eric Spoelstra running the show and grit-and-grinding their way to victories. Those two teams are an amazing display of what proper roster construction and system design to maximize your star's strengths can do. As with almost any Pat Riley squad the defense was smothering and Wade and his role players provided just enough points to win.

It's still a minor miracle that Wade managed to will those squads to as many victories as they had but let's not pretend Wade had to deal with PDA level incompetency here and one can argue that Vlade is trying to construct a similar situation here (surround the star with gritty role players, play defense, hope to score enough points to win).

Wholeheartedly agree. Especially on the part, that one can argue, that Vlade is trying to do something similar, because...we can really argue about that....;)

not yet. If he runs his contract down, then in the next couple of years the Kings might have the assets to get him for a year then have a chance to give him a big deal to pair with Cousins.

I'd give the people who don't think Cousins can win....I'd give that line of thinking some credibility if Cousins was surrounded by deep playoff run type roster. And I should add having a good coach in place for more than than 12 months.

Our SG's have been fairly poor, our PGs have not been able to guard anyone and the one PG that could score at will was traded or let go for nothing. JT, our PF for so many years isn't even in the league, etc, etc

Now we have some good role players on the team but we are missing a top notch PG and/or two other players who could be considered borderline all-stars or top tier talents. Rudy Gay is/was one. I'd like to see a top PG with Boogie and then see what happens.
