That's really not how it works. Money is signalling, as well as being, well, money. Remember Kevin Love? Remember DWade this summer? Its an important franchise move to not only lock up Cousins, but to signal to the world that we aren't cheap, we aren't uncertain, we aren't playing games. And to Cousins himself who thrives off of loyalty and detests games. No games, no mucking around and squirming in the mud looking for loopholes. You do it loud and proud and lay it on the table. Say here we are, this is our guy, this is our coach, this is our GM. No more dumpster fire. No more chintziness. We're respectable. It wipes out a whole vast swath of the ick and uncertainty. Short circuits 1000 negative stories before they begin. Eliminates any thought of another PDA or Karl coming through town. Drives the Bee brigade into underground snarking. Ends Grant's rants.
Its an important move and statement that we are stable and respectable again as a franchise. it will matter to Cuz, it will matter to agents and players, it will disappoint media who have filled their blogs with weekly Kings = dumpster fire articles.
