I wonder what the assessment of Garrett Temple would have been prior to his signing??? I would put a lot more merit in someone saying that signing a 30 year old combo guard with career 39% FG (and 30% from three point land) and giving him $24 million dollars was a GOOD idea BEFORE it happened. I didn't see anyone clamoring for his acquisition prior to it happening. I am not saying it won't work out, I am just saying....."meh".

That said, we do need more length and feistiness in the backcourt. But none of these signings really shift the offensive burden away from Big Cuz, whose scoring and passing efficiency is consistent with a team that wins 30 game annually. I am really not trying to be a downer, but I think you have to squint hard to see the merit in these additions. I liked our draft A LOT better.
You're going to have to get used to Boogie being as featured as ever offensively. Because we are giving him the true superstar treatment now. This is early 2000s Duncan. Surround him with pure roleplaying shooter/defender vets, control pace, and run absolutely everything through the big guy. For a defensive coach like Joerger it can work too if he is able to move us to be the first good defensive Kings team in a decade.

So if Bogdanovich was to come over, hypothetically, what would his salary be?

Rookie scale for a #27 pick I believe. That was the whole reason nobody thought he would come. But Maybe Vlade promised him that he wouldn't pick up the rookie options so Bogdan could hit FA in only 2 years.

Or Vlade told him that would be the salary whether he came over this season or next. If he really wants to play in the NBA he doesn't have much leverage.

I sure hope so but I just don't see this happening. The cap goes up again next year... He could wait and sign a deal worth $40mil. Even if vlade promised him it'll only be two years on a rookie contract he'd still miss out on next year's cap increase.

Suns must be pissed.

They dealt Bogdanovic in large part because he refused to come over next season. Then his smooth talking countryman trades for him and talks him into coming over?
When we got him in the trade with the Suns the first thing I said was don't underestimate the fellow countrymen bond. From that region, culture reigns supreme.

I think I am used to Boogie's 30% usage or whatever it is. He got the true superstar treatment last year, and FAILED, with injury, conditioning-issues, forced play and constant bickering with refs and coach. So we will see if the change in personnel and personalities around him makes difference. I think it can, but let's not pretend he wasn't catered to last year. Rondo could not have been MORE accommodating to make the most of his skills, looking for him on every possession. And if we are going to be a good defensive team it needs to be anchored by Boogie, instead of taking possessions off and disrespecting his opponent.

That's a good comparison. The video I watched of him reminded me of Manu a little bit. He does not need a lot of room to operate and make plays.

I don't know, I see a little bit of Stauskas with a sprinkle of George Gervin.
Then what's the point of signing afflalo and temple. We have our sg, why sign 2 more? Especially at 12.5 and 8 million.

Temple can play a little PG and certainly defend 1-3. If anything bringing Bogdanovic over means Malachi is D-League fodder and Ben is either on the missing persons list or gone.

The Nets signed Tyler Johnson to a 4 year $50 million dollar deal. It seems less and less likely that we'll be able to keep Seth Curry as the summer of insanity continues. I bet Pat Riley is pulling out his hair right now.

The contract breakdown, designed so the Heat will not match, will be $5.6 million for the first year and $5.9 million for the second year. It will then rise up to approximately $18.9 million for year 3 and $19.6 million for the fourth year.

The Phoenix Suns have a problem. A good one, but still a problem. With Bled and Knight going down during different parts of the season, Devon Booker emerged as one of if not their main centerpieces. Knight has made it known that he will not come off the bench and I really don't see them benching Bled or Booker as 6th men either.

They're not trading Booker, so acquiring either Bled or Knight would suddenly thrust us in the backcourt. Both have very solid defense and I would personally go with Knight due to his uncanny ability to get off (and make) odd angled 3s, while still being a controlling PG. Plus, he's got a slightly cheaper contract that runs a year longer through 2020. I wouldn't hesitate to give them McLemore and Gay for one of those two PGs.

Why not? They just drafted Dunn ( who could start now ) and still have Tyus Jones and Lavine in the back court. I would be happy to trade both Koufas and McLemore if that is what it would take, but I am fairly certain they would like to move on from Rubio.
Rubio is a prettty ok starting PG. Young as well, and has a good contract. Tyus Jones isnt good and Lavine isnt a pg. Thibs loves a pg like Rubio. McLemore is probably only worth a 2nd or late 1st on his own. You're not getting back a good starter atm.

I agree that he is a solid young pg but I don't see the Wolves wanting to keep him. It may take more the McLemore but I wouldn't be surprised to see Rubio moved this offseason and would like the Kings to at least take a swing at it.

Boogie hasn't remotely failed. We've failed him.

But there is a significant chance Joerger and Vlade are trying to turn that here. This last season was wrecked by an incredible stack of injuries, but Joerger's previous 2 seasons the Grizz finished 7th and 3rd in the league in defense and combined with their slow pace allowed only 95.1 and 94.6 opponent points. We meanwhile allowed 109.1pts last year, and 105.0 the year before. I doubt we become the Grizz defense in one offseason, although if we continue to make moves to purge offensive minded personnel, who knows. But if Joerger can get the team anywhere south of the 100pt barrier defensively, that dramatically upgrades the impact of a superstar scorer, and its the way we should have been playing it for years.

Well actually, its well known that Thibs has been shopping Rubio hard here. So while we may not get him -- and who knows what the market is -- its pretty established that Thibs is trying to move on from him. Surprising that he would want to go with the all kids backcourt, but maybe he wants full molding control.

I don't understand this.

The Kings have ONE PG signed and he's likely to miss games with a suspension. Temple can swing to the PG, but that still only leaves two guys to play that spot. Curry should've been a priority.

I wonder if this means the Kings are convinced Bogdanovic is coming over and are going to swing he and Temple to the PG spot in a Princeton-style offense?

Just reaching here because I'm at a loss as to why they wouldn't want Seth back.

The number of Sacramento guards made a return unappealing, and team will allow Curry an easier route as an UFA to finding new team.
