Kings and free agency - part 2

Dumb question here, but if a team has a chunk of cap space as the Kings now do, how do they go about "absorbing" contracts of players on other teams that want out. This is one thing I've never understood. For example, say the Kings did want to pick up Lawson or Faried (hypothetically), how would such a transaction even be transacted assuming both sides were up for it? Thanks

Since Boogie just followed Wes on twitter, he better be blowing him up and explaining to him why he should be in Sac. Be proactive and recruit for us big guy!

You can just absorb them, as long as you are under the cap you can absorb contracts of that size (a little like a trade exception)... you don't necessarily have to do anything else- but usually somethings will move from oneside to the other as part of the deal...

woah! shocking. totally unexpected. this flies in the face of our stellar free agent signing history. definitely thought Matthews was in the bag.

I feel bad for Vlade. He's in an impossible situation. He has an idiot owner who has made this a toxic environment to the point where guys are leaving $15-20M on the table. It's going to take him a few years to right this ship.
Vlade will need some help doing this....or maybe he just needs to learn along the way, hopefully that won't cost him his franchise player in the process.

You just made a definite statement about a medical procedure, he called you out, and now HE'S the troll?
A definite statement? I said you can never be 100% about this stuff- ask everybody you want about it, google it- anything...

this is one of the most serious injuries there are- doctors thought Kobe would be good but he has yet to recover from it...

here is an article if you want to hear more (not medical stuff strictly NBA stuff, if you want to medical material just ask and i'll give you a link):

IMO, it's a better bet to bring in some depth than break the bank on Matthews. A Collison/Mc/Gay/WCS/DMC starting 5 is no joke and I think with 2-3 strong bench guys of the Brewer-Beverley mold would do this team WONDERS

Can the kings back out of that philly deal?

Nothing is concrete until July 9th moratorium is lifted.
Why? You want to reclog $15m of cap space? To bring back the core of our 29 win team? Keep the cap space, try to sign others and use the space in trades. We missed Matthews. That doesn't make Landry/JT and the 2019 11-30 draft pick the better option.

If we return the same starting 5 as last year, Fegan won't have to take Cousins out of here. I'll do it for him. Enough is enough, and greatness awaits Boogie in the NBA, if he can ever get called up.

However Wes Matthews =/= the end of all hope.

One thing to keep in mind about Patrick Beverley is the fact that he is a restricted free agent. If we do agree to sign him, it ties up our capspace for 3 days while Houston decides to match, which they most likely will.
