Kings and free agency - part 2

Why would he want to play with Deandre so badly? What point guard would be passing either of them the ball? Mekkel? I just cant see DJ, a key component to lob city, leaving LA so that he can go to Dallas and catch passes from Mekkel instead. No.
This is what makes me think DJ is just leveraging Cuban's Wallet to get more out of Ballmer.

Yeah im starting to lean on going for Beverly, Koufos, Brewer, Casspi over just Wes and maybe Rondo.

Collison/Beverly/Ray
Ben/Brewer
Gay/Casspi/Anderson
WCS/Acy
Cuz/Koufos

I sure hope the Kings spoke to some doctors regarding Wes achilles tear and got the thumbs up prior to offering him 64 million now...originally I liked the 3 year deal, this 4 year deal...I don't know yet. Regardless though, chances need to be taken and that's all there is to it really. Can't afford to sit on our hands this offseason, always have two other options if option A is gone. If that is the case, load up on a bunch of bench players that are not liabilities when you put them out there.

What was our weakness last year? Our bench. Our starting lineup was one of the best in the NBA. Why aren't we addressing the bench instead? Wes is one man making more than your star player. That is not going to end well.

Dallas is f'd at the point guard position. Dirk is 137 years old. Monte is gone. Why go there? Them patchworking their way to the playoffs has come to an end. We have a very good core with minimal supporting pieces. We're getting a new arena. We have the best fans. We're in California. If winning cures all ailments then we have alot of things that make us attractive.

Well the bench would improve if we brought in better starters. DC and Ben are a great backcourt off the bench. It's the 3-5 positions that would still need help.

At the end of last year we were starting (when cousins was not injured)
C - Cousins
PF - Thompson
SF - Gay
SG - McLemore
PG - McCallum

That is NOT a good starting lineup. There are two players that should be 8-12th players on the bench and one that doesn't even belong in the
NBA...

That might be the first time since draft day that anybody has used the term "damnit" about not being able to get TRob. the good news is that at the rate he's going, he will have played for every team in the league by 2020, so everybody should get their fair dose.
He'll be playing for Panathinaikos in Greece by 2020.

Getting Rondo and Matthews would address our bench.

We'd then have DC/Ben as part of our bench unit, better than what we had last year. Why are we attempting to make this so complicated? Get Rondo/Wes we upgrade our starting 5 and upgrade our bench at the same time.

I agree, but substitute WCS and Collison in that lineup and it's not too shabby. Then we can bring Brewer, Beverly, Koufos and Casspi off the bench. Maybe Evans or Acy for emergency fouling purposes. If we bring in Matthews and Cousins or Gay gets hurt, our depth is going to suffer...again.

Exactly! And im not so worried about front court depth, Cousins will be playing most of the PF/C minutes and so all you really need is Reggie and someone else....doesnt have to be a big singing, just get someone big and competent!

This is exactly why you don't trade to create space for free agents. Our biggest free agent in the history of the Sacramento Kings was Vlade Divac, who wasn't even in the prime of his career. Bring them through trades by trading assets.....except we don't have any now.

Can't even overpay a guy. He's leaving maybe $15-$20 million on the table. Just because he doesn't want to play here. Yikes.
I doubt he is leaving that much... I bet he'll get a similar contract shorter years, and gamble on regaining his old game... if he can recover he might end-up making more money after the cap explodes...

Crisis averted! I'm willing to bet anyone that if Ben McLemore is starting next to Rondo on the Kings next year that he puts up better numbers (offense and defense) then Matthews does on Dallas next year. Sign Rondo, Koufas, and Brewer/Stuckey/Belinelli are we are much better off.
