Does he like pizza?

How bout a rundown of his positive attributes he will share with the kings?

Heres some info

[
CBS Sportsline.com a few months ago ranked him as the best guard in the COUNTRY and the second best player overall. He has incredible upside. One problem with him is he is not polished by any means. He ran as a two guard and can shoot the ball and drop 30 any night. He doesn't take unnecessary shots. He hasn't played tough competition in college but when he does he plays his best. (ex: At BYU last year . 30 some what points, guarding Travis Hansen who played for the Hawks. Against Nebraska this year, scored 24)

how does he handle DNP - CD ?

can he wave a towel ?

how much space on the bench does he need ? (in my theory we got rid of Ostertag because he did not fit on the bench (physically) )

Gracias. I'm liking what I hear, especially the part against tougher competition.

He was vastly underrated in the draft. Many teams liked him but were unsure about taking him because he comes from a school which just went Division I last year. He will contribute a bit in the first year, but he will stick in the NBA and be a good player, that is for sure

Well thanks for sharing this info brock, i surely hope he is a good player but the truth is he wont be getting any playing time in the regular season (baring a major injury), because of the fact we are loaded at the 1 and the 2, and Rick Adleman's tight rotation of players.. I hope to catch him in some preseason game though.

He has a lot of raw talent, but he will need to be polished in the next year or two. He's got a nice crossover that will break some ankles. Bye the way, how did we get screwed into picking up Ostertag from you guys?

He might get time in the developmental league then.

Blame Petrie - he makes a lot of folks do things they later wish they hadn't.

Ostertag = God

All good stuff to here, and as for being too raw, I think that fits the 3rd PG role well. We've got him for 4 years if we want, so we should be able to develop him into a good player. Let's hope he's all that you've made him out to be, and him slipping out of the draft was a colossal mistake by all the teams in the 2nd round. It sounds like Petrie wanted him bad, so this could be a very very good addition.

Do we have two Team options after 2 years, because I heard we only had him for 2 years?

I think the new CBA has a provision that all rookie contracts are 2 years with two 1-year options for the team, after which they are restricted free agents.

A quick search:

OK, it was only for first-round picks, so at this point, who knows....

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=stein_marc&id=2121672

Rookie contracts indeed provide only a two-year guarantee for first-round picks, with teams able to invoke two subsequent one-year options if they choose. Rookies, though, do not become unrestricted free agents after four seasons as some expected. If a rookie plays out the original two-year deal and the two option seasons, he would still be a restricted free agent after the fourth year.

OK, a little further digging reveals this:

C. Rookie Scale Contracts

* Rookie scale contracts will provide for two guaranteed seasons with two separate one-year options in favor of the team for seasons 3 and 4. (In the previous agreement, rookie scale contracts provided for three (3) guaranteed seasons with a team option for year four.) The first team option is exercisable following the end of the player’s first season, and the second team option is exercisable following the end of the player’s second season. A team that exercises both options will continue to have first refusal rights following the player’s fourth season.

* The rookie scale and 3rd and 4th-year options and 5th-year Qualifying Offer amounts for 2005 first round draft picks (at 100% of their scale amounts) are set forth in Exhibit A attached to this memorandum. Teams will still have the ability to pay 20% more or less than the scale amounts.

So it appears that it isn't only for first-round picks, unless that is what is meant by "rookie scale" contracts. I do not know enough about these things to give a definite answer....
