Your Kings Draft Board

All-Star
Alright, so, with apologies to Chad Ford and his tier system, with a #10 pick all you need is a list of 10 guys and when #10 rolls around you take whoever is highest on your list. With the draft just a few days away, here's my own personal top 10 -- note this is who I want the Kings to draft in order of preference, it's not a mock draft (so if the Kings move up in the draft this list still applies):

1. Greg Oden
2. Kevin Durant
3. Al Horford
4. Yi Jianlian
5. Brandan Wright
6. Joakim Noah
7. Corey Brewer
8. Jason Smith
9. Thaddeus Young
10. Mike Conley

As I've described before elsewhere, I'm not much of a fan of Conley because he can't shoot and I don't think he's quick enough to make up for it -- plus there are going to be better point guards available in next year's draft. I don't like Green because he's not quick enough and J. Wright because he can't shoot and doesn't have an NBA small forward game.

Can't wait until Thursday.

1) Oden
2) Durant
3) Horford
4) B Wright
5) S. Hawes
6) Conley
7) Yi
8) Green
9) Brewer
10) J. Wright/A. Thornton

I think that's Petrie's list personally.

MY list is:
1) Oden
2) Durant
3) Horford
4) B Wright
5) J. Green
6) C. Brewer
7) M Conley
8) J. Noah
9) S. Hawes
10) J. Wright

If I were picking, this would be my top 10--

1. Greg Oden
2. Kevin Durant
3. Al Horford
4. Brandan Wright
5. Corey Brewer
6. Mike Conley Jr.
7. Joakim Noah
8. Yi Jianlian
9. Jeff Green
10. Julian Wright

1. Greg Oden
2. Kevin Durant
3. Al Horford
4. Joakim Noah
5. Yi Jianlian
6. Brandon Wright
7. Jeff Green
8. Corey Brewer
9. Mike Conley
10. Jason Smith

If we were to trade UP and get #6-#8 I want Noah
If we were to trade DOWN and get #12-#15 I want Jason Smith + another pick.

My list:

Oden
Durant
Horford
B. Wright
Yi Jianlian
Corey Brewer
Mike Conley
Joakim Noah
Julian Wright
Jeff Green

One of those players will be available to us (obviously) but I'd bet that GP will be picking Hawes if he's still left

I'd be so thrilled with Yi or Conley but that's almost definetly not happening. Unlike alot of people here, I think Conley is going to be a star.

Greg Oden
Kevin Durant
Al Horford
Yi Jianlian
Brandon Wright
Joakim Noah
Corey Brewer
Julian Wright
Jason Smith
Spenser Hawes

It looks like we basically have the same sheet except I don't like conley at all considering what will be available in next years draft.

1. Greg Oden
2. Kevin Durant
3. Al Horford
4. Yi Jianlian
5. Brandan Wright
6. Joakim Noah
7. Corey Brewer
8. Jason Smith
9. Thaddeus Young
10. Marco Belinelli

Its too bad we have no use at all for Belinelli at this point. If, for instance, he had been there last year when we picked, I would have instantly snatched him up instead of Douby and been pretty happy about it. Have nothing to go on other than mix tapes, but I've been very impressed.

I see belinelli as a super 6th man ala manu ginobili 2nd half of the season. He can be used as a PG in a big backcourt and be there when Kevin needs a breather.

This is my list for the top 10 players I'd like the Kings to take, not who I think the 10 best players are.

1. Greg Oden
2. Kevin Durant
3. Al Horford
4. Mike Conley
5. Yi Jianlian
6. Spencer Hawes
7. Jeff Green
8. Joakim Noah
9. Jason Smith
10. Brandon Wright (I'm really afraid he is going to be the biggest bust in this draft)

That will be YI if he's picked in the lottery. B Wright is a pretty safe pick IMO. Worst case scenario he's Joe Smith.

No way will Geoff Petrie pick Spenser Hawes...whoever drafts him will be sorry -- he is a serviceable journeyman at best....I just watched a lot of clips over on You Tube so now I declare myself a NBA draft guru :p

Impressions:
This guy Jason Smith looks pretty impressive; I think he has a big upside, he has the athletic ability and length of Tim Duncan....

And I would not mind seeing Thadeus Young wearing a Kings uniform...

Definitely take a pass on Noah ...this guy's game does not translate to the NBA....

I think Yi will be picked before #10, so whether we would take him or not is irrelevant. Teams are too intrigued with 7 footers who can run and shoot. The last import from China - Yao Ming - faired pretty well, and comparisons to Pao Gasol are reasonable

I would NOT draft Conley....

Julian Wright looks great too....

Knowing how Petrie thinks based on his draft and trade history, and what he looks for, and just a cursory study, I guess the next Sacramento King will be one of these 3 guys:

Young
J Wright
Jason Smith

Greg Oden
Kevin Durant
Al Horford
Yi Jianlian
Brandan Wright
Mike Conley Jr.
Julian Wright
Joakim Noah
Spencer Hawes
Corey Brewer

he has the athletic ability and length of Tim Duncan

Smith only has a 6'10.75 (same as his height w/o shoes) wingspan with an 8'10 standing reach. You think that's comparable to Duncan?

Given that I don't think Duncan has much athletic ability, not hard to match him. ;)

But Smith is nowhere near as big/long obviously, and if he's going to have success its going to be in radically different ways.

Exactly, Duncan's strong point isn't his athelticism, but his strength, footwork, and fundamentals. Those aren't Smith's strong points there, he's got good balls skills, shooting, and athleticism but he's still weak and won't be able to create offense for himself in the NBA

That last part I think is open to question, which is why he's intriguing. He's very quick, does have good ball skills, and if he has the toughness for it could be a nasty face the basket PF. Not a post player I don't think. But a guy who takes his man out to the elbow, squares him up, and attacks. Or not. I am not entirely sold. But if I was pickign 15 and looking about for a potential longshot sleeper star, Smith would be a real consideration with his size/skills.
