You have mystical powers. What do you see in the Kings future?

What actions do you think Petrie is planning on taking?

Okay, we're having some great discussions about what we think the team needs, what we hope will happen, etc.

Let's put it to a vote and check back later to see how well we - the most knowledgeable Kings fans on the planet - have predicted what will actually happen.

What I want to happen: Trade Bibby and Miller in attempt to get some hungry firey youth...Also pick up role players that could help the bench...Keep Artest.

What I think will happen: Stop gap, because with our team we apparently can make the playoffs and contend.

What I clicked: Trade Bibby, because I reacted and clicked it before I knew I wanted to pick Stop-gap.

i voted trade for draft picks.

but looking into my crystal ball this came up....

:D ;)

I predicted "ride it out as long as possible..." because that's what Petrie seems to do. Who needs a crystal ball when history speaks for itself. If anything happens it will likely come from the Maloofs like the Artest deal did or be a minor deal.

I do expect a lot of movement in the offseason though. At that point we'll likely have missed the playoffs and the Maloofs may understand we need a complete overhaul instead of a patch job.

I see this as a problem with a number of facets.

I don't think the current roster have any confidence in the coach or want to play under him. I expect their lackluster play to be an ongoing vote for replacing him.

I don't think that Muss likes what GP has given him as a roster.

I don't think that GP can like how Muss is utilizing his roster, contracts limit how much he can change it (in any positive direction), and the longer Muss keeps the team tanking, the more limited his trade/FA options are.

The obvious choice is to change coaches and re-evaluate, but Muss seems to be letting the Maloofs coach the team from afar, so they will probably have a hard time realizing that their revamping of management is a failure.

As for what trades GP might make before the deadline, I'm not even going to try and guess -- especially with the activist-owner wildcard thrown in.

What I am hoping will happen is that the Maloofs will let Muss continue tanking the team, then fire him the moment the season ends, and replace him with someone the players can get excited about. A great coach, and a great draft pick, would go a long way towards getting the team going again, and selling a fresh batch of season tickets.

I think that's the best we can hope for at this point, and I hope that the Maloofs have the presence of mind to do it.

HMMM...so it's not as simple as the Johhny Cash BMW that was build One Piece At a Time?

Interviewer: What's your prediction for the fight?
Clubber Lang: My prediction?
Interviewer: Yes, your prediction.
[Clubber looks into camera]
Clubber Lang: Pain!

Johnny Cash didn't build no BMW. It was a psychobilly Cadillac.

And Brick, that's awesome. My first inclination before clicking the link was "disappointment" but "pain" is equally suitable.

Petire wants to rebuild there is no doubt in that. The Maloofs on the other hand they have other plans. They will make a stop gap trade in an futile attempt to make the playoffs. We will ab about 3-4 games out of it IF the stop gap proves to work. Most likley we it does not and we land somewhere between 7-8 games out of the 8th seed. And of course miss our opportunity at a good pick and the pain continues.

I am fundamentally opposed to predictions in general... but I'm sure there will be some oodling involved.

Darn. I should have included that option...

And I should have made it clearer that multiple answers were okay.

:o

honestly, what i see:

Kings turn it up after the all-star break, almost all the players are playing well and everybody is thanking GP for not rushing towards a trade. we make the 8th seed, lose of course. in the offseason we make a few big moves that surprise a lot of people. :D

If "ride it out and evaluate" means more losses, why not? We can still lose, and keep an eye on the trade radar and see if anything comes up. Here's what I'd do:

1. Sit down with the captains, starting with Artest. Explain that we are looking to go young, that things aren't working as is. Ask if Artest would mind being part of a year or two of rebuilding. If not, do all you can to trade him for youth/picks.

2. Continue to lose at all costs. Give Martin, Douby, Price, Garcia, and Williams big minutes. Evaluate any young guys we may attain in trade.

3. Pray for the ping pong balls to bounce the right way. Draft BIG.

i picked the first option out of wishful thinking. i just refuse to let myself believe it won't happen because it has to happen, it's gotta happen.

I voted to fire Musselman, for the simple reason that we were winning with the same guys with Adelman.

When the opening tip goes up, it starts at the head of the bench, and Muss isn't getting it done.

Sure we had Bonzi last season, but he missed a lot of games due to injury, and Adelman still got us to the playoffs.

There was no need to blow up something that didn't need fixing.

Adelman would have us at the .500 mark at this point at the very least. He must have gotten an A in chemistry, because he was very good at keeping harmony in the clubhouse. The guys looked like they were having fun on the floor when he was here too. That's a glaring omission from this year's team.

KA-BOOOOOOM!!!!

There is only 1 solution in my mind. To blow it up. If we do nothing theres a strong possibility this team may barely make the 8th seed. Good for tis year but very bad for the future.

Here's what I think will happen (I didn't see this option on y'alls poll)... The Kings braintrust will make one stop-gap trade before the trade deadline (intended to help y'alls Kings reach for the #7 or 8 spot), barely miss the playoffs or else win that 7 or 8 seed and then sadly get knocked out of the playoffs in the 1st or 2nd round. Then, it's not hard to imagine that King's management might well be very active next Summer, and make another trade or two (and here's where Artest will exit stage left) in pursuit of finding players who will fit Musselman's 'system' better and who will help y'alls Kings contend for another playoff spot in 07-08...

I expect GP to make stop-gap trades because that's what the Maloofs will want. Then, when that doesn't work, the Maloofs will let him make major trades this summer.

This is a very likely scenario. You however forgot the part where I cancelled my season tickets in between the first and second parts of the "plan" along wiht a colorful letter shot off to Kings HQ telling them where to stick things.

Good assesment... except for what I highlighted.

I would bet my left arm that wouldn't happen.
