A terrible loss. Truly terrible... and losing his whole family like that? I can't help but suspect foul play.

This, of course, makes that whole thing with the "demise" of "Mr. McMahon" a thousand times worse? How are they going to show Benoit's passing the proper respect, given the way they've run this ****ing storyline?

They scrapped the whole McMahon death..... stuff thank god.

He lost one of his best friends Saturday. Biff Wellington passed away and he missed last nights PPV due to personal reasons. I fear the worst :(

I'm saying, though, they've already used the things that are associated with the legitimate tributes (ten-bell salute, testimonials from the talent, announcers using their "serious" voice), and they used it a week ago for this McMahon tripe.

One of the best. Very sad.

I haven't been following lately but saw the McMahon "death" angle advertised on tv last night... what the hell were they thinking the way that so many wrestlers go way too early? Incredibly poor taste.

RIP Benoit

Pro wrestler, family found dead in Fayetteville home

A professional wrestler and his family were found dead inside their house in Fayette County Monday afternoon.

Authorities confirmed that Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy and their 7-year-old son were found dead at the home on Quarters and Redwine roads in Fayetteville about 4 p.m.

Officials would not say how the family died, other than to say they weren't shot to death.

Benoit, 30, was a Canadian wrestler who most recently fought as part of the World Wrestling Entertainment.

The organization said on its Web site said that Monday night's broadcast of "Raw" on the USA Network will "serve as a tribute to Chris Benoit and his family."

I am out here in Sac so don't get Raw til 8pm pacific tonight. What did Vince say or did they do at the beginning? Was it like the Eddie Guerreo tribute done two years ago? I am shocked by this news to. Benoit was one of the best, but it seems like you hear of a pro wrestler or two dieing every year now in the last what like ten years or so.

The show started with Vince McMahon standing alone in an empty arena: they'd sent the live crowd home... He said that tonight's RAW was supposed to be about the investigation into the "death" of his on-screen character, "Mister McMahon," but that it wasn't going to be seen tonight because, in reality, Chris Benoit had died. He said that, instead of having a usual RAW, they were going to do a tribute show to Benoit.

This show, I have to believe, is going to be different from the other three legitimate tribute shows they have done (for the death of Owen Hart, 9/11, and the death of Eddy Guerrero), in that, for the other three tribute shows, they at least had 24 hours to react, and Benoit's death was literally just announced a couple of hours before the show was scheduled.

I'm still shocked by all this.....

by Dave Meltzer
Sources in the Fayette County Police Department are now working under the theory that Chris Benoit killed Nancy on Saturday, son Daniel on Sunday, and then killed himself earlier today.

Benoit was found dead in his weight room. Nancy was found dead in the living room. Daniel was found dead in his bedroom, according to an unnamed source in the department.

Lt. Tommy Pope told ABC News "the instruments of death were located on the scene," but didn't specify what those were or where they were found. Pope said the department was not actively searching for any suspects outside the house.

And this.......

WWE will go on with regular programming tomorrow in San Antonio, with Raw & ECW tapings not based on either a tribute to Chris Benoit or continuing the Vince McMahon angle.

I feel incredibly sorry for everyone concerned. Now, not only is their grief made public but it's gonna be the fodder for the rumor mills and gossips for months.

Truly a shame.

According to the Sherrif, the son (7 years old) had needle marks in his arm and HGH was found in his system... A 7 year old boy on HGH... Wow... This is so sad... Also, Benoit placed bibles next to his wife and son, then sent a text message to his friend Chavo from WWE and told him to take care of his dogs. He then hung himself using a cord from his weight room later that night.

McMahon to Apologize for Benoit Tribute

By James Hibberd

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon will apologize for the three-hour USA Network tribute to pro wrestler Chris Benoit that aired Monday night, sources said.

The WWE and USA Network have received complaints about the tribute, which was hastily produced after Mr. Benoit, his wife and their son were found dead in their Georgia home Monday afternoon.

Authorities said Tuesday that Mr. Benoit strangled his wife and suffocated his son, then took his own life. But WWE and network officials were unaware of the circumstances of Mr. Benoit’s death when the tribute was assembled, sources said.

The WWE canceled its regularly scheduled “Monday Night RAW” event on USA Network Monday night and aired the tribute in its place.

Mr. McMahon will address wrestling fans tonight on Sci Fi Channel’s live Extreme Championship Wrestling event. He also plans to address speculation that Mr. Benoit’s actions were the result of steroid use.

The WWE plans to resume its regular wrestling telecasts, which air on USA Network, Sci Fi Channel and the CW.
