I think that quote has just proven that he thinks his guy are not conditioned enough to play extended minutes. I can only think of a handful of times this year anyone has exceeded 40 minutes.

Wasn't players conditioning one of the things that the organisation was boasting about at the start of training camp? You know, that the coaching staff did a very good job with players' offseason training? Colorado was also supposed to help their conditioning

Absolutely, but your players can't play 40 if their bodies are tuned to 18-20.

Exactly. It's a circular thing that doesn't make sense from the beginning because the organisation claimed that everyone was in good shape.

I thought Colorado was for hiking, zip lining, etc. All things to help with "team bonding." We all know how well that worked out....

If you look at how bad this team is on getting back on defense you'd think this is the worst conditioned team in the league. They play like they are 40 years old, not in their early to mid twenties.

Not before the end of the season. What's the point? If the Kings leave Sacramento a 1,000+ people will be fired, most of whom really need their job. Now I'm depressed. Thanks. :(

Nothing inspires team bonding like wins. Even Kobe was able to bond and share when it provided winning. Opposite is also true, especially given that there were expectations of finally fighting for PO this season.

He's trying to say that he had to extend his starters in the 1st quarter because they were in danger of getting down big early. This forced him to play his 2nd unit extensively in the 2nd quarter, which he had confidence in because they've been playing really well of late. But obviously, that didn't work out....

Look at that! You said it all in just three lines and I understood every bit of it. Maybe you should give lessons in communications to Smart.

After tonight, all I can think is, WoW... amazing this coaching staff still has jobs...

Problem is he basically can't be fired for months and months while the sale lingers. Given that its not even clear who's goign to end up wiht the team, its not even as if the Maloofs have a clear party to get permission from, although given tehir desire to sell the team out of Sacto, they might jsut say f-it and report to the Seattle group exclusively. In any case, normally a sale means the team being sold is frozen in place untilt eh new owners can take over. Which is really unfortunate in this situation.

What if the team starts losing by 50 each week? What if the Knicks game is just the tip of the iceberg? May want to cut him lose to save more embarrassment. The Cousins vs. Smart thing is going to get more volitale by the week in my opinion. This team is becoming like a car wreck you can't turn away from.

You're right, but right now I don't see what we have to lose making B-Jax our head coach. He can' t be worse than Smart. There's nothing to lose anymore, and they won't add any salaries. I just can't watch Smart on the bench anymore. Enough is enough. It's just for three months, then the new owners will sign a new coach in the OS.

If the Maloofs have to elevate BJax's salary because he's the head coach, then that might be an issue. Who knows how he would be as a head coach? This season is absolutely shot, however, and I don't know that adding another coach who, in all likelihood, won't be with the team next year would be a good idea.

If it hasn't happened already, why would it? Since January 1st, the team is 6-14. A few highlights from that time:

9 of those losses by more than double digits (2 additional at 9 points)
11 games where we were outscored by 8 or more points in the 2nd
10 of those games where 12 or more guys got playing time.

This isn't even getting into more advanced analysis. After over one season of this nonsense, he stays until we have the ownership situation settled then is 100% gone

Yeah, I'm coming to the realization that he will not be fired before the end of the season. Basically, all of the players and coaching staff are auditioning for their next gig. We'll see which "lucky" few stick around next year.;)

No, I am sorry to say, no. Smart's contract will have to be payed so paying him off to bring in a real coach only makes sense for owners who see an advantage in winning games. The current owners have made their price and will get the same amount of money with Smart or with new coach, so why spend the money? The new owners, who ever they are will (1) want to pick their own guy, and probably a new GM as well since Petrie's contract expires at the end of the season. (2) The the team is headed to the lotto again so in a very real way the new owners are better off with he highest pick possible. Now ask me when will Smart be fired? If new owners are in place before the season ends he will be let go with in days of the end of the season. If the deal goes down after the season ends then his butt will be gone before the ink dries on the contract.
