Why is Reke worse now than when he was a rookie?

The difference between Reke's rookie year and this year is the addition of Thornton and the subtraction of Beno. Regardless of Beno's limitations, he complimented Tyreke perfectly. Didn't demand the ball, but made his shots within the flow of the game. Never forced anything. Thornton gets his shots the same way as Tyreke, in the 1-on-1 style game. Throw in Salmons, and you now have 3 guys waiting around to get the ball so they can take their man 1-on-1. Bring in Jimmer who is a scorer also and is expected to play some point guard and you leave Tyreke without a defined role. Tyreke hasn't changed. The team around him has and the coaching staff hasn't done a good job of defining his role.

oh yeah......we're three games into the season too......let's not start to panic just yet.

I see.

So if he differed to Noc, Casspi and Hawes, you would have been convinced he's more of a team player? Or throwing the ball into JT, who's now our 10th man, every other trip down the floor would have been a better strategy?
Absolutely. He was supported in NOT passing to them or setting them up. A person can soon learn not to do it OR put another way, not learn to do the job as its supposed to be done.

I'm not saying its Evans fault. In fact, I don't believe it was Westphal's fault. The ownership desparately wanted him to get ROY and I'm sure that was OK with Evans. It was unfortunate for Evans and the team. He'll catch up sooner or later. I support Evans but not in poor team play. He hasn't yet learned to do it.

Let me make this point for the 17th time: Tyreke Evans' ASSISTS shot up down the stretch of that season. If anything the 20-5-5 chase appeared to make him MORE conscious of passing to teammates, no matter how incompetent.

2009-10 Reke Assist Pre All Star game: 5.1
2009-10 Reke Assist Post All Star game: 6.9

But please, by all means let's continue to make the same spurious arguments becvuase people's delicate sensibilities were upset by the media hype. Notice I said media hype. As in media. As in not the player himself.

Really, it gives you hope he wants to improve?

This is ludicrous. Some of you people are so anti Reke you don't even think he wants to improve. You don't think a former ROY wants to improve. You don't think a starting NBA guard, who put up 20/5/5 as a freaking 20 year old, has any drive. You act like Reke is where he is today because of blind luck, and he didn't work his *** off to get where he is.

Basically, you just admitted, because of a tweet about Reke practicing ft's, your opinion of him wanting to learn and improve changed. So if you never saw that tweet, you'd still be sitting behind your computer thinking Reke simply doesn't care.

Reke didn't all the sudden lose his talent. Posts like this show how shallow some posters knowledge is of the game. Don't even have the ability to consider teammates, coaching, system, or what he's being asked to do.

Because he only played decent during our first 3 games, and shot poorly from the line, you think the dude just doesn't give a s***. Funny.

Do you know what Nash was doing as a 22 yr old? How about Stockton? How about DWill? Guess those guys didn't want to learn or improve either at age 22, since Reke is better now then any of them were at the same age. Guess the rest of their careers were blind luck. If only twitter was around back then. Might have changed everything. Guess they don't work on their game unless they tweet about it.

Alright. Here we go.

You know what, I'll bite. Alright, Napear Jr. Let's do this.

Alright, since I left out an important clarification, let me make myself clear. Improve and learn FROM HIS FT MISTAKES. But also, from your rant, Please define, exactly, what you thought has improved so much between now and his Rookie Year that you find as such evidence?

Now, it might be completely premature. But alot of you posters who are so adamant about Tyreke were also saying that the team just needs time to gel, Westphal has had success before, etc. But you can't have it both ways. It's either one, or the other. If Westphal doesn't need to be fired, then Reke is doing something wrong. But if Westphal needs to go, and is doing something wrong, then it's on him.

So stop taking anything I say against Tyreke personally. I made that point to suggest that even though he did poorly from the FT line, he wants to learn and improve, willing to stay up after and work on something till all hours of the night if need be.

But I guess I should only expect a single-minded reply about Reke from someone who has him for the profile pic.

Brick, you always have a point and I'm always interested but I'm too dense to understand what your mean.

You really don't know me if you don't think I hammer Reke a fair amount. I've been extremely critical of him. Look through my post history.

Numerous times I've hammered Reke for not improving various parts of his game. I've questioned who he surrounds himself with.

How about you tell me which parts of his game I;ve openly criticized for two years now? I can copy and paste a number of examples, as recently as this week. But if you can't even tell me which parts of his game I've screamed for him to improve, you don't have a clue what my opinion is on him.
