Whoa! Maurice Evans to Lakers

Or landing Marcus Banks. :)

I'd love to get him to Sac for part of the MLE, or if were that committed, the MLE.

Not really. As Mitch said Farmar is a couple years away. They still want someone thats seasoned. Smush likely is playing his last year as a Laker.

Now Banks could get his second chance at being a Laker. His agent, Michael Higgins, said Wednesday that Banks would have definite interest in coming to the Lakers when the free agent negotiating period begins Saturday.

"He's always been a Lakers fan," Higgins said. "He likes the situation there with Kobe and Phil Jackson. He's looking at it from his standpoint where it's definitely a viable option for him."

It's a good move for the Lakers if they use him. They've got a superstar at shooting guard and a minor star at small forward. Puts a little bit of a ceiling on his potential playing time.

Gotta hand it to you guys, yer loyal to a fault. I couldn't pick this cat out of a lineup if my life depended on it. What makes him anything special?
Good offensive rebounder is the first thing that pops to mind...Uses his monster athleticism to come out of nowhere for very nice put-back slams.

Can also shoot the three from the short corner with his feet set.

Thats what I remember.

They traded a 7 footer for a guy who is 6' 6" and this is supposed to be a good trade? In what book. 7 footers are at a premium.
Well 7 footers who can PLAY are at a premium. 7'0" second round draft picks playing in Europe who may never play a minute in the NBA...score you roleplaying swingmen.

Us lakers fans like this trade also. A no one for a solid contributor. He will probably come off the bench at the 3. We plan on using the MLE to sign someone like Banks or Cassell. Move Sasha to Kobes backup. Evans to backup three. Our lineup will look like this.

MLE/Smush/Farmar
Kobe/Sasha
Luke/Evans
Odom/Turiaf/Cook
Kwame/Bynum

PS- We also believe Mitch is one goofy looking dude.

First, welcome to the board. I merged your posts into one comment...

You should probably know that Gargamel is one of our long-time token resident Laker fans.

The Farmar pick smelled of homerisim prety bad... They aren't having trouble with ticket sales are they? Usually the "bring in a local star" is about pumping the fan base. ;)
I actually think it was because there was really no one better than him. It might have factored in a bit. Lakers need PG and big man. PG's left at that time? Farmar, Dee Brown. Big men, the guy you guys just picked up undrafted. Farmar was the logical choice.

Honestly, Mo Evans is a great rebounder and leaper, and that's about it. I'd much rather have Martin and Garcia, who have shown more dimensions to their game. I'm glad for Evans, but i'm not sure how much PT he'll get behind #24.

Cassell's gonna be off the table very soon, Clipps reportedly made him a 12 mill offer @ 2 years. Lakers may lose on Banks too. Same deal as with Antonio Daniels, they refuse to give either full MLE or max years, which is what Banks is looking for. It's that stupid capspace plan. Hopefully that plan is shelved when LeBaron signs w/ Cleveland on 7/12.

I'm not sure if he was the best player left, but drafting him reminds me of when they took Walton (a lot of people called that one too). Farmar's agent is Tellem, so I'm sure that factored into it.

I don't like him because he fits the mold of PGs we've had our fill of. Not that Phil will play him anyway, but when he does, he's going to be mismatched against most 1s in the league. He's 170 lbs and the athleticism he supposedly showed in the pre-draft combines doesn't translate on the floor at all (at the college level). The only thing I'll say for him is that he competes and is a farily good passer w/ decent court vision.

I don't think tix are down that much. Mgmnt is fortunate in that they don't have to worry about disgruntled fans like the Knicks do because they can ride Kobe.

He's gonna be this year's Laron Profit. Considering that Jackson's eccentric lineups are good for 5-7 losses on their own, he can't afford to give Kobe long rests throughout the year. Sorry, Mo. ;) We hardly knew ye.
