Who would you rather have

Aenadin

Starter
i was just thinking, i was looking back on a few players from the kings of early 2000 and onwards and an idea that i just wanted to ask people here came up. judging on who they have become right now or who they were at THEIR best, who would you rather have, lets put in here their personality stats and all that you could think of. i know some of these guys havent been around the league long enough but judging on their play, and stuff who would you rather have

again lets not put age as a basis here.... just their stat wise, personality and stuff

lets compare these guys

Kevin Martin or Gerald Wallace
Francisco Garcia or Bobby Jackson
Vlade Divac or Brad Miller
Peja Stojakovic or Hedo Turkoglu
Scot Pollard or Kenny thomas
Lawrence Funderburke or SAR
Doug Christie or Ron Artest
Mike Bibby or Jason Williams

some of these are no brainers who you would pick the only guy i didnt get a comparison to was C-webb there was no one like him,

well thats something to think about during the TDOS... :)

You think that Martin and Wallace are alike? Garcia and Jackson? By whatever standard I can think of (position, strengths, weaknesses, relative roles on the Kings), I don't see those as parallels.

But, what the hell... **** it, I'll play along, anyway. I'd rather have:

Wallace
Jackson
Divac
Turkoglu
Pollard
Funderburke
Christie
Bibby

I agree. Some of these comparisons just don't really work.

However I now see the team that I am going to building on my 2K8 game.

This is a no brainer for me

Martin

Francisco or Bobby is the only toss up. They really have similar personalities. They are confident, can defend, want the ball in clutch moments, hit lots of big shots.

Vlade

Peja

Pollard

Funderburke

Christie

Bibby

Kevin Martin
Bobby Jackson
Vlade Divac
Peja Stojakovic
Scot Pollard
Lawrence Funderburke
Doug Christie
Mike Bibby

its hard to explain but i was kind of strectched between martin and wallace..

if i wanted scoring and shooting id go with martin

defense and athlethicism id go with wallace

the peja and turkoglu id have to go with hedo :P he brings passing and didnt shy away in the playoffs

glad some people here picked christie over artest :P

"Kind of stretched" is a stretch in itself. A more appropriate match would have been Martin and Stojakovic. Matching up Stojakovic and Turkoglu makes it seem (and this is an observation, not an accusation) like you were determined to match those two up because they are both European.

Kevin Martin
Bobby Jackson
Vlade Divac
Peja Stojakovic
Scot Pollard
Lawrence Funderburke
Doug Christie
Mike Bibby

i was talking about comparing hedo and peja having 6"10 height sorry if i didnt fill that spot up hehe

Ah, that makes more sense.

:)

Although, for the record, Peja Stojakovic probably plays the "shortest" of any 6'10" guy around.

Kevin Martin is NOT 6'10" ... or even anywhere in that ballpark.
Kevin Martin may not be 6'10", but his role on the team much more closely resembles the role that Stojakovic had than the role that Wallace had.

The height thing seems like a copout, in my opinion. Because, in that case, why should Jackson and Garcia be matched up?

Kevin Martin or Gerald Wallace Gerald got much better after Kings
Francisco Garcia or Bobby Jackson Bobby was the shortest PF in the league
Vlade Divac or Brad Miller Vlade WAS the master and Brads mentor
Peja Stojakovic or Hedo Turkoglu again, Hedo got much better few years after leaving Kings
Scot Pollard or Kenny thomas Scot threw his body into it every night plus his hair was better
Lawrence Funderburke or SAR Fundy was instant offense and could be counted on every night
Doug Christie or Ron Artest RonRon could defend any position
Mike Bibby or Jason Williams Bibbs made many clutch shots and won games

Um, what?

My ONLY point was that I felt the poster had been in error regarding Kev's height. Strictly a matter of clarification, not anything that could even remotely be considered a "copout."

Kevin Martin or Gerald Wallace... bad comparison...
Francisco Garcia or Bobby Jackson... bobby
Vlade Divac or Brad Miller... divac, not trade hedo for miller...
Peja Stojakovic or Hedo Turkoglu... both, rather not trade peja for artest
Scot Pollard or Kenny thomas... pollard, that was too easy
Lawrence Funderburke or SAR... fundy would be retired now...
Doug Christie or Ron Artest... doug, not trade doug for mobley, doug retired..
Mike Bibby or Jason Williams.. either one will do...

instead of comparing players i'd rather not do any of the trades that brought in the other players... except bibby... im cool either way... if we didnt leave wallace unprotected we'd have martin and wallace coming off the bench for doug and peja... i guess i'd be cool with trading hedo for miller... our pf position would still suck... but man, what a lineup...

bibby or jwill
martin
wallace
blank... trade peja for a pf or draft david lee in 2005 instead of garcia...
miller

damn that would be a nice team....

we seriously would have had a great team if we protected WAllace in that expansion draft....

a combination of Martin and wallace would have been sweet

yeah that team would have been nice... it would have changed the entire franchise, peja being traded for artest wouldnt have happened... we might have kept webber which means no kenny thomas...

Kevin Martin or Gerald Wallace - MARTIN
Francisco Garcia or Bobby Jackson - JACKSON
Vlade Divac or Brad Miller - DIVAC
Peja Stojakovic or Hedo Turkoglu - HEDO
Scot Pollard or Kenny thomas - POLLARD
Lawrence Funderburke or SAR - SAR
Doug Christie or Ron Artest - CHRISTIE
Mike Bibby or Jason Williams - BIBBY

a team with out kenny thomas.... i wonder what it feels like? :D

that guy ate up a lot of minutes for developing future bigs... (by that i was referring to justin williams)

Those two comments were not directed to the same poster. If you want to take up for Aenadin, that your business. Just, understand that, please.

I'd go along with these, but with a couple of questions that might affect the outcome: Wallace vs. Martin at what stages of development? SAR vs. Funderburke, but is that a healthy, young SAR, or the one we signed?

Wallace
Jackson
Divac
Turkoglu
Pollard
Funderburke
Christie
Bibby

Kevin Martin or Gerald Wallace Gerald got much better after Kings
Francisco Garcia or Bobby Jackson Bobby was the shortest PF in the league

Yeah I was going to say, it's almost comical how much better Wallace got after he left Sacramento. Sucks for us, I guess. LOL. I'd still take Martin over him though at this point as well. Definitely BoJax over Garcia too. The guy was once sixth man of the year. Really a no brainer with Divac over Brad.... Peja over Turkoglu.... Pollard over Thomas not only b/c he did more when he was in the game, he was a better bargain too. LOL. Funderburke definitely over SAR. Christie and Artest may be the toughest one for me to pick but I'll go with Doug. The guy was a good fit in Sacramento and I believe slightly better overall than Ron. Bibby over J-Will anyday. He led us to some big playoff wins.

This is a bit of a joke, right? If we were making picks based on players during their prime, that's one thing. If you are talking about July 2008, here are my picks:

Kevin Martin or Gerald Wallace - Gerald is more athletic, but...
Francisco Garcia or Bobby Jackson - No doubt
Vlade Divac or Brad Miller - Vlade is retired
Peja Stojakovic or Hedo Turkoglu - As was stated, Hedo does not disappear during the playoffs
Scot Pollard or Kenny thomas - I don't think Scott will play another year
Lawrence Funderburke or SAR - Lawrence is long retired
Doug Christie or Ron Artest - Doug is another retiree
Mike Bibby or Jason Williams - Neither

Since you only quoted me, I think you can see my confusion.

If you want to take up for Aenadin, that your business. Just, understand that, please.

As I said, my only reason for commenting was to clarify the height issue in that I thought the OP was stating Martin's height as 6'10".

:)

Yeah I was going to say, it's almost comical how much better Wallace got after he left Sacramento.

Actually it was almost predictable. Gerald Wallace grew up after he was left unprotected for the expansion draft. I think he finally realized the importance of a good work ethic, something he was frequently criticized for while with the Kings.

Everyone needs to learn different lessons in life. We'll never know if Gerald would have become the player he is today if he hadn't been faced with the cold hard fact that he simply wasn't putting forth enough effort.

Kevin Martin or Gerald Wallace
Francisco Garcia or Bobby Jackson
Vlade Divac or Brad Miller
Peja Stojakovic or Hedo Turkoglu
Scot Pollard or Kenny thomas
Lawrence Funderburke or SAR
Doug Christie or Ron Artest
Mike Bibby or Jason Williams

Is everyone in their prime? Or are all the retirements and back problems in place?

Assuming the former:
Wallace
Jackson
Divac
Hedo
Pollard
Fundy
Christie
Bibby

And it's really not even close.
