Cisco is the 6th man with Beno, Diogu, and Donte off the bench plus someone else from the draft. Probably BJ Mullens if he's still there. I thought about Beno to the Clipps for Baron as well. Could work. But I eventually decided I'd rather go young at the point. And if Baron isn't a good fit, you'd be screwed. I also thought about maybe trying to sign Marvin Williams at the 3, cause Atlanta is cheap and they don't really need him. Depends how much he would cost though. I'm not convinced he's going to be better than average.

i actually wouldnt mind going to arco to see this team play. i think its a solid 5 and if mullens, mills and greene live up to expectation, we'd be deep team.

for the long term, i'm sure there are doubters...a lot of doubters due to davis(davis having a bad year would probably be the reason we could pick him up for next to nothing). but on paper this team could easily be a 5-8 seed team.

Here's the thing, if you're going to pay $13+ millions for Session and Beno, I'd rather have Baron Davis for roughly the same price. His contract is just as long as Beno and he's a much better PG. Unless of course the argument is that Session is better than BD, which I just have to disagree. Plus, we have no chance of signing Session unless we way overbid.

As for BD, his back is always a concern. But in the right system, BD can carry a team on his back deep into the playoff. It's a gamble and it's about making the best of a crappy situation (Beno's and KT's contracts). Do I like BD? Not that much. But he's the best available PG we actually have a slim shot at. In a perfect world, we'd have Derrick Rose running the poing for us. In the fantasy world, BD is just as viable as Session.

And in the real world... BD is not coming, Session is not coming, and we're likely stuck with Beno as the starter and a young rookie PG backing him up. That's the reality.

It's not pretty, but I think they would be a significant improvement from this season. Najera, Sean Williams, and Trenton Hassell are acquired for KT (big expiring they would covet) and our 2nd pick of the draft, as well as a future 2nd. Hedo would love to play for Carrill again. Pachulia is a nice versatile C that would play a nice filler role. Hassel provides good situational D when needed with plenty of other offense to carry his load.

it would set the franchise back big time. you know we haven't scored that "superstar/franchise" player yet either. we'll be one of those middling teams getting bounced annually from the playoffs if we get there.

this. Seems like a good start for a depth chart. Beno, Cisco, Noc are all GREAT backup players. Lots of energy and they play a different style of ball than the starters so it changes the game up, throws opposition off, forces other teams to adjust to a new style of play. This is the best situation IMO.

Something to add, hopefully we can get Diogu at the minimum and we draft a gem at #31. Who knows, but Petrie is good at this sort of thing.

You really think Jamison is their long term plan at the 4 (He'll be 33 next season)? I wouldn't think if they had a chance that they wouldn't move him if something better came along. I think due to the structure of their team they would be extremely interrested in Thabeet. They have Haywood but he is not really all that great. The only guys I think they are set or stuck with are Butler and Arenas right now. The rest of the team and players are pretty meaningless. Obviously McGee, Critt, Blatche are probally decent young answers at their respective positions but none are really that great.

I think the answer to that question depends almost entirely on two things:

1) where are we picking ourselves; and

2) what is your read on the PGs in the draft, Rubio, Jennings, or the unlikely appearance of John Wall. If you think one of those guys is going to be a real star I say its on the table. Or should be. If you're not sure about those guys, then that's a heck of a risk to take and could set us back if you are wrong. I think John Wall is the real deal. I think Rubio could be the real deal but there are some flags. I think Jennings has the talent to be the real deal but needs a brain transplant, or I guess a brain implant given that transplant suggests that you are actually swapping one out.

it would set the franchise back big time. you know we haven't scored that "superstar/franchise" player yet either. we'll be one of those middling teams getting bounced annually from the playoffs if we get there.

I know it is a big risk and we may likely not score that superstar/franchise type talent 10 years later. I don't think it would set the franchise back all that much if at all. The only change I've made is adding Sessions who is a young promising point guard and it is a given that we will likely end up with Griffin if we land the #1 pick. Now if we sign old aging veterans then that would hinder that franchise a lot more. If and that is a big if everything is as good as advertised and Griffin becomes a 20/10 guy along with Martin who is a 24+ point scorer/all-star with the improvement with Hawes and Thompson, we should have a pretty decent line up. Obviously that line up isn't done yet. We will have to get more guys to fill maybe the small forward spot and some serviceable defensive bangers down low.
