We've all got hopes for this team even though they are struggling, and certainly we do have the potential to make a serious run in the future if Tyreke and DMC pan out the way we'd like them to.
Question is, who else is going to make up our team when that time comes? Sad to say, Darnell Jackson and Pooh Jeter aren't going to make the cut. I'm too lazy to really consider salaries, and I don't know much about draft prospects for next year's draft (although at this rate it seems that our pick will be a significant player on our team). But say in 5 or more years time, we're a great team and we're trying to compete for the championship. Which players do you think will still be here, and which players would you like to have, realistically?
The only guys from our team now who I'd like to keep other than Reke and DMC are Hassan, Omri, Donte and JT. I am of course, assuming that all of them become decent players and Hassan basically takes over Daly's role. I don't think that Garcia will be here by then as he'll be getting old and we can find better shooters out there. Beno I suspect would have been replaced due to his poor defence. At the PF we'll need someone who gets rebounds and is can hit open shots but isn't a focal point of the offence, and so I don't see us keeping Landry (since DMC should be our main go to guy inside).
I don't know about that far in the future, since some guys will be old and all, but I'd like the newer equivalent of James Posey. Someone who defends and hits 3s. A rich man's Antoine Wright, Udoka etc. I'm still high on JJ Redick too.
