I would go nuts (in glee) if the Kings got Rudy Tomjanovich.
Silas would be good as well, as would Collins. But I like his commentary better than his coaching record.
If Rudy T is out there, I'd give him anything he wants to come here......instant legitimacy to both players and teams.

I don't know if Rudy T is available, if he's still under contract to the Lakers, still scouting for USA Basketball, involved with USA Olympic team, has continued health issues, etc. I agree that he's one of the very best available - if he's available.

I think Larry Brown is a GREAT coach, but unfortunately, he's also a whiner and a guy who doesn't like to stick around longer than a year or two. If his personal life has been anything like his coaching career, he must have had more wifes than Henry VIII or he must have engaged in polygamy all these years.

At least Carlesimo can communicate. Elston is challenged when it comes to his oratory skills, which is one of the requirements of a head coach. He had a hard enough time doing the half-time interviews with Grant. I'd hate to see his "motivational" speech to his players. All other things being equal, I'd also like to have to have a guy who coached under Popovitch, as opposed to Adelman. Carlesimo gets points just for that in my book.

Have no idea why -- it will obviously have nothing to do with our old coach, because his teams always decide to be elite on their own while he's just along for the luckiest man alive ride.
Or so I've been told.
The fact it keeps on happening on his watch after years and years where the teams go nowhere is kind of odd though.
All that needs to be done to heighten the drama is for Houston to trade for Artest. (Please, please DO IT!). Then Adelman gets the guy he supposedly can control and the Kings get rid of a nutcase. Adelman probably sold himself in part on his ability to "get along with" players. And he can say that he actually "controlled" Artest for 3 months (BIG WHOOP). It's time for Adelman to be reunited with his long lost friend....

Oh yeah, Carlesimo has shown he can "communicate" alright. Liek a foul mouthed drill seargent. Except of course, foul mouthed drill seargents don't get very far out in the real world where people who are over the age of 18 and enormously rich and (in their field) accomplished just aren't going to take that **** from a middle aged tyrant with a soft middle.
Bobby Knight could never in a million years coach the pros either. He might in fact get physically hurt.

Bobby Knight is a strawman. Your description of PJ sounds a lot like Popovitch. You wouldn't hire him either, I guess, though I suppose you'll say he's not as drill-seargenty as Carlesimo, which I find it difficult to believe. I'd like someone with a broad vocabulary, able to communicate on a lot of different levels.

Doug Collins has the same problem as Carlesimo -- he yells, screams, berates, and the modern NBA player isn't going to take that. Hence his players hate him, won't play for him, he never wins anything of significance, and then he gets fired.
Pretty good color announcer though -- knows the game, even if he does get stuck on single points which he insists on repeating a nauseum. Should just stay over there.
As an aside, if anyone has ever seen a behind the scnes on Pop you would see that Pop is like Riley -- can get away with the drill seargent approach because he befriends his players off the court. Those guys make the players WANT to play for them. They do not drive unwilling charges.

Now that Brooks is getting a second interview, I think we should go that route. The guy has been tipped to be a great coach by both his former teammates and a fantastic coach, George Karl. The players responded to his instruction during his tenure, and it was an incredible shift. I think he would be a great fit, and while maybe not the sexiest name, I think he can do a solid job during a transitional time for us.

Actually Carlesimo was not that bad in Portland....His three years there he had 44 wins, 44 wins, and 49 wins. They also made the playoffs all 3 years. I think that we could do a lot worse.

If you're defining 'disappointed' as in the whole last year, then that's probably the case with 100% of us in here...the fact that we're going to have to settle for our 2nd or 3rd choice in this coaching fiasco, has kinda been our status quo in the last year...our luck changed for the worse with everything when the Bros. Maloof wanted 'their' guy for a coach and we let that Adelman guy go. Is that our 'Curse of the Bambino'? Oh well, bring on whoever our new coach is, for however long he's here...I just hope we don't have to re-live this again a year or two from now.

Yeah I have heard some good things about him, why not him? We're the only coaching spot left anyway assuming Seattle DOES hire a guy like Carslisle.

Uh no. This is not the time to be taking wild gambles on NBA rookies naymore than it is to be hiring Whiz or a college coach. We're pretty well in the pocket as far as candiates go. Guys that may not be the right choice, but at least should not be disastrous. Know the league, have some legitimacy as former players etc. Trying to prove a point or set a trend by hiring guys from Europe has to wait until we reestablish ourselves as a stable orgnaization with a direction to it.
