R.E.Graswich never had his head on straight. He hated the team; he hated the players; he hated the fans. He was like Charlie Rosen - only without the charm. ;)

He is still with the Bee; he writes a column a couple of times a week that shows up on the front page of the Metro section. He usually shares three or four human interest-type stories.

Until recently, he also took every single opportunity that he could to take potshots at the "billionaire Kings owners." I haven't seen him do it lately, however.

Sounds like a charming old fellow. What was the cause of his loving attitude?

I guess i should make a post on topic as well...I've only been following the Kings since 2002 but I would have to go with Chris Webber.

And who was Jim Les?

Jim Les was a 3 point specialist and had the reputation for being one of the greatest practice-players of all time. Apparently the guy was absolutely lights out shooting the basketball in practice and yet when game time came around for some reason he could never put it together. He was mostly a scrub, prompting one of my sister's friends to make the observation that he played "Les" than everyone else.

Jim Les Moderately Official Bio
Three point specialist shooting PG from the Kings of the early 90's (originally drafted by Utah in the THIRD round (back when they had one), but eventually released). Came onboard for the Kings during the ridiculous chaotic season in 90-91 I believe, where we'd drafted 4 rookies and turned over 10 of the 12 people on the team. Cinderella story -- surprised everybody midseason by earning platoon time at PG and shooting the lights out from three (thus prompting me to bestow a gag gift on my brother of a powder blue Kings uni with the name "LesFor3" across the back). In fact shot it so well that he was invited to participate in the three point contest at the All-Star game the next year, and came just one shot from winning the thing (and beating Craig Hodges I believe) -- which, sad as it sounds would have been the highpoint of Kings basketball in about a five year period there. Unfortunately in yr 2 for us (the year he went to the three point contest) the league had caught on that the ONLY shot he could hit was a three, and that he wasn't a great ballhandler for a PG. So they got up and pressured him and his effectiveness plummeted. Hung on as a limited minte backup for a few years, then retired to become an accountant, which he looked more the part of anyway. More recently was an assistant coach for the Monarchs, and then headed off to be the head coach at Bradley I think.
