Who is the most important King in Sac History?

Jason Williams-opened a lot of peoples eyes to the "King's Style" of basketball. He got all my friends watching the games.

Billy Owens, because if he wouldn't have held out on his contract as a rookie the Kings wouldn't have gotten Mitch Richmond, and without Mitch Richmond the Kings woulnd't have gotten Chris Webber, and without Chris Webber the Kings wouldn't have gotten..... well, let's just stop there.

lol...nice

an argument can be made, but in that case, maybe its Petrie for pulling the trigger on the Webber trade, or the guy who drafted Owens (im not old enough to remember :o) or....

you get the idea.

just my side of the argument...

I will Argue for Mitch on this one. The guy really was a Rock for the Kings during some thin seasons and toiled as the only guy on some pretty terrible teams without complaining a bit. He was the first real "Star" in Sacramento, even if he was underrated on the national scene and he never complained about that.

Many will say his final season pout really takes away from his professionalism here in Sacramento, but I will argue that he really had reason to complain since he had just gone to the playoffs for the first after a long long toil with the Kings only to see Sacramento let there second best player (a young Brian Grant) walk to Portland. He was getting older and clearly wanted at least a chance to win, and the Kings were showing him they had no such interest at the time.

Additionally, he brought us CWebb. I don't think CWebb is the guy simply because i think his greatness was too dependant on others. If there was no Vlade, no JWill, I don't think CWebb becomes nearly the player he is, and I don't think he ever turns it around, and leaves after a brief and troubled three year stint.

Similar argument with Vlade and JWill. The three were talented players, but two were not mature enough to toil in obscurity without the others, and one was simply not talented enough to be the man alone on a bad to average team.

If you want to argue that the trio was the most important element in Sacramento Kings history I will agree hands down that the style, charisma, and raw talent of JWill, CWebb, and Vlade coming together is what turned around the Kings, and truthfully probably the entire NBA, but if we're arguing for a single player it has to be "the Rock" every time, as he alone was the foundation of the Kings for years, and ultimately the building block for the great teams that followed.

Good lord...

The most important King in the history of the franchise in Sacramento is Doug or Peeler because they threw punches.

Yeah, I'm sure that's what they want to be remembered for.

See what u guys made me do.

the drafting of jwill made me a kings fan..... but webber is the one who takes it hands down. if it werent for bibby such a good player i would have hated the jwill trade, they could have been great with a little more time.... but bibby is awesome..... so i'll deal....

webber is the man.... then comes vlade...

by far it was TONY MASSENBURG ..one of the most dominant players in the NBA who took a pay cut to sign with the Kings, even though he was worth gutting the team for ....rumor has it he's the only player who Shaq feared to play against ..

runner up would be Jerome "GARBAGE BAG" James....who knows how many titles the Kings would have had if they kept this talented big man who drew comparisons to Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain ..

Excuse my language, but bullbleep.

Webber's getting hurt in no way diminished his importance to the Kings.
Yes, couldnt agree more...Lord knows how far we could have gone in 2003 had he not gone down against the Mavs. Oh well, old news.

Yeah, he probably wasnt the most important in my mind, but he did put us on the map for 7 seasons where we couldnt even get to .500 as a team. 39 wins twice was the closest...UGH THE MEMORIES!!! What about Mike Peplowski or Randy Allen? Randy Breuer, anyone??

I realized after answering this question .... I'm a SENTIMENTALIST (if that's a word).

There's nothing wrong with picking whomever or whoever you choose, but whoever that individual is, it gives the rest of us ... somewhat of an indication of what era/King you favor or impacted you the most.

There is no wrong answer ....

I go back to the roots and remember The Old Gang in the Baby Blues !!!!
Ah yes, the 'old gang in baby blues'. I remember that well...I was only like 10, but I remember it. My favorite guy besides Theus back then probably had to be Mark Olberding, man that guy was an animal! He played with so much heart and hustle. I liked Mike Woodson, too. Woody!! Oh yeah, and Eddie Johnson, that guy had a sweet rainbow of an outside shot. Anyone remember that song they did 'The Kings come out at Night', a spoof on Whodini's ,Freaks come out at Night?

Back in the day I would have said the same thing for R.E. Graswich when he was the beat writer for the Kings...but back then he actually was speaking the truth when he said we sucked balls.;)

Oh I know... I finally figured it out... It took some time, but I finally looked at all the candidates out there and I found the right one... You guys know him... He's the guy that.... U know?... The one that used to play basketball, the one that liked to wear jerseys for every game..... He even shot a freethrow one time.... Its on the tip of my tongue and I can't figure it out.... Can someone please help me out?........
