Who is going to start for the Kings?

Fox
Buddy
Bogi
Randolph
WCS

I just can’t see Z-Bo not having a big role to start the season. He is going to bust the young dudes up in practice. And he shoots 3’s better than all our front court players besides Belli. But I think we will go to the bench faster this year depending on matchups/energy.

Here's my starters and those behind them:
PG: Fox/Ferrell
SG: Hield/(Shump or Ben)
SF: Bogdanovic/Jackson
PF: Giles/Bagley
C: WCS/Koufos
I'm also intrigued by Bjelica and hope he (unlike Z-Bo) fits in somewhere.
At some point this year, I'd like the PF/C minutes to be split between WCS, Giles and Bagley (going forward).
If Bogi is a liability at SF, then I'd like to see the PG/SG minutes split between Fox, Hield and Bogi.

I think it’s going to be mixed until they can figure out what works best

Fox
Bogi
JJ
Bagley
WCS

Yogi
Hield
Bjelica/Bogi
Skal/Zbo
Giles

Fox, Bogi, Getting 30 min
Hield getting 28 min
Yogi 24-28 min
Bags and WCS getting 30 min
Giles 24-28 min
Skal and Zbo and Koufos getting remainder along with Bjelica getting some stretch 4 in matchups

Fox
Buddy
Bogi
Randolph
WCS

I can’t see Randolph starting. He’s already a non fit and a negative on the floor, just aging another year. Actually with Giles/Skal/Bagley/Bjelica/Koufos, I don’t see him playing

What I want:
Fox
Buddy
Bogi
Bagley
WCS

Bench:
Yogi
Jackson
Shumpert
Bjelicia
Giles

What I predict:
Fox
Buddy
Shumpert
ZBo
WCS

Bench:
Yogi
Bogi
Bjelicia
Bagley
Giles

The fact that everyone on this board has a completely different lineup makes the beginning of next season exciting. We will really see which of the young guys have been putting the most work in the offseason and are rewarded a starting spot.

Starters I want:
Fox
Buddy
JJ
Bagley
WCS

Starters I'm guessing:
Fox
Bogi
Shump
Z-bo
WCS

What I want:

Fox
Buddy
Bogdan
Bagley
Giles

As far as what coach is going to do, I think Fox/Bogdan/WCS are all pretty much locks to start the season. The other 2 spots are very much up in the air though. I do get a sense that we're going to be using Beli a lot at the 3 as him taking 4 minutes just creates an insane log-jam. But I could easily see Buddy/JJ/Shumpert in the starting 5 and it wouldn't surprise me.

Fox
Bogdan
Beli
Bagley
WCS

Beli is the shiny new FA toy and Bagley just by nature of being the #2 pick should have a leg up to get the starting spot. I'll have A LOT of questions if he comes off the bench for a bad team. Him starting to build chemistry with the other core guys as a starter is one of the most important things that needs to happen for this franchise to move forward.

Not interested in who starts. I'm interested in match-ups. For example, when the Kings play Utah (who they play 3 times early in the season) who does Joerger match up against Gobert? The last person I want matching up with him is WCS, who can't shoot 3s, and has a hard time shooting outside 2s. Gobert just hedges in the paint, clogs the middle and makes life hell for the other Kings on the floor. Give me Skal, or Giles, or even Bjelica in that match up so that the team can spread the floor and not have Gobert clog the middle. I'll take my chances with those guys guarding Gobert in the post.

Don’t agree. Joerger can’t lose on a starting lineup. We have a bunch of partly prepared talents. Even ZBo might be right. At this pint nothing is in stone. Will be nteresting to see things develop.

I think ZBo will likely start if for no other reason than to showcase for a trade at the deadline.

And I don't get folks flipping out about vets starting. I think they will indeed start and the youth will get a lot of minutes coming off the bench. But part of that will be how practices go and if there are any injuries, etc. I think Giles has the best opportunity to crack the starting rotation given he has a year of practicing with the team under his belt. But it is still WAY too early to be thinking about starting lineups.

Yogi
Shumpert
Bjelica
Zbo
Koufos

Just kidding.

In actuality I want
Fox
Buddy
Bogdan
Bagley
Giles

Actually expecting
Fox
Bogdan
Shumpert
Zbo
WCS

Giles playing minutes in the low 20s wouldn't be a problem with me; it might actually be prudent to do so considering his special injury case. It's when he's out of the rotation completely and Bagley is playing 15 mpg like I'm half expecting is when I'll be having problems.

Hmm. Interesting mix of players. I’m expecting:

When we want a big match up:

Fox
Bogi
Beli
WCS
Giles

When we would rather go small:

Fox
Buddy
Bogi
Beli
Giles

I see lots of guys going Hield in the starting lineup.....I worry about scoring when the starters come out. A Hield Ferrell backcourt can be damn good off the bench

Starters don’t have to come out together at roughly the same time, they can be staggered as they play 30+ minutes as the teams best players tend to do

Bagley
Giles
Skal
Willie
Koufos

Lmao, idk anymore. We have so many bigs this year its definitely going to be interesting.

Also have to consider scoring off the bench to keep the game manageable.

I'll go with whoever fits Fox's play style first:

Fox
Bogdan
Shump
Bagley
WCS

With

Yogi
Buddy
Jackson
BJ\Skal
Koufos\Giles

Kings showcased him all last season and no one wants him. It's over, cut your losses and stop wasting development time on a 37 year old.

ZBo might start, but it won't be to showcase him. The only reason would be that Dave trusts him more than others, which I doubt would be the case now. Even if he does, I'm pretty sure he understands that he needs to find time for the young guys who are part of the future.

ZBo will be tough to trade, and certainly not at the beginning of the year. He may find some suitors around the trade deadline, if that team feels that he can help them make the PO, or help them there if they make it. That would be a very very small market. Coupled with his decent sized salary, our lack of roster spots (unless other moves are made) meaning we can't really take back more players, our unwillingness to take long term contracts unless it's something that meets our needs, and the certainty of a team giving up a useful piece to rent a 37 year old for half a season, his contract would be close to being untradeable (unless it's part of a larger deal, where he's more a salary filler, than a useful player, in which case his skills don't matter much).

I'm a little surprised at the lack of love JJ is getting when predicting starters. Despite his limitations, he's the only real SF we have on the roster. Unlike Bogi/Bjelica, and to a smaller extent, Shump, who all can play some SF, JJ is a natural SF, and (as of now) the only one on the roster (not counting Gabriel/Artis yet. Former is on a 2-way contract, and very very raw. Artis hasn't yet made it to the roster, and might never).

I do believe that Bjelica was signed with the intent of playing him mostly at 3, since playing him at 4 makes no sense, given our glut there. Plus, if we want to find more time for Buddy, and for Buddy and Bogs to play together, the latter at 3 makes sense, at least for some time. However, I still think Buddy comes off the bench, at least in the beginning, and we go with a more traditional line up to start. Know little about Bjelica, though was happy to read that he played well at 3 when he was required to, so perhaps people marking him as starter at the SF position will be proved right.

I thought JJ had a decent summer league, and he can be a productive player at 3. He does need to develop a more aggressive mentality. It's tough to do so, when you are lower down in the food chain. I think if Bjelica plays in his position, he will face similar challenges, at least on the offensive end.
