Unfortunately, the inability to manipulate Karl will be seen as a major downside to this FO.

That's exactly why Malone was fired. And Malone, as a rookie coach, in theory, should have been fairly easy to control. They couldn't control him, there's no way they can control Karl.

I"m afraid that's why he won't be hired, despite being clearly the guy with the best resume by a long shot (and having a similiar philosophy). I mean, he won coach of the year in 2013. 2 time coach of the year in the CBA. He's coached the all star team 4 times. No coach out there has his resume. There's no way around that.

I fear that he's way too qualified for this franchise's current leadership structure. He would swiftly take over and PDA/Mully would need to find a new source of income. I don't see them (PDA/Mully) hiring someone who would immediately be a threat and who would drown out their current status as right hand men to Vivek.

I find it very hard to believe a coach with that resume can't figure out how to use Boogie. Maybe someone can explain why that would be a problem. I'm not being sarcastic.

I tend to agree with all your statements above Chubbs.

I highlighted your question in red. The comparison I find is Don Nelson's inability to get along with a young Chris Webber.

Here is an article that delves into the whole disappointment of that era: http://www.goldenstateofmind.com/2012/9/5/3295034/disappointment-day-golden-

Isn't it telling that the guy that is available with the most credentials, that fits what they want to do is George Karl and they haven't spoken to him yet? They are going to turn this over to Mullin in the off-season. Mark it down. It's why Mullin is saying Corbin should get his shot this year so that he doesn't look like the back-stabber that he and PDA are. It's why they "met" with Mark Jackson for 2 hours. This all spin control right now.

See.....we turned over every rock to find the perfect fit this time and he was on our staff the entire time. It's all BS. Karl should already be here but as others have said, he wouldn't put up with their BS meddling and right now they are trying to save face mainly with the perception that they have a clue. And they are trying to save face with the remainder of the league and potential FA's and their agents and the potential future head coaches. I doubt they really give a **** about what the fans think in this situation.

Smoke and mirrors right now and then poof....introducing your new head coach....Chris Mullin!

If that is the case that have painfully misunderstood the power of social media and the internet today. They are going to get killed for this. And it's not going to inspire loyalty and ticket sales and good feelings. It will squander a LOT of goodwill. Essentially the only way to redeem it would be to win a championship. And even then I can see a lot of loyal fans resenting Vivek taking credit for it or sharing in the celebration.

Maybe you got a point there, but if this turns out to be the plan, it will get really hard for me to keep supporting the franchise. If Mullin messes another year of DMC's career I ll be mad.

This is actually a more intriguing question that I first thought. My knee jerk response is to stay focused on "guys that are readily available now" I am kind of practical that way. But the more I think about it the FO is offering coaches the chance to coach DMC who has established him self as a clear top 2 center in the NBA and Rudy Gay who has excelled as a second scoring option next to him, in short a team with assets that has proven it can win tough games against the best. If the front office waits until the season is over they can look at current coaches that are dissatisfied, and by being open to salary demands and giving up some control to a "proven winner" they can actually choose among a nice little list of contenders who don't just want A job, but that want THIS job.

So my list:
Adelman
Sloan
JVG
Hollins
Karal
Tibs

Have heard Kings want give Ty Corbin a chance this season. But also some interesting names like Mully & Kenny Smith floating around.

so now Kenny Smith is being mentioned??
I remember when people thought the Warriors shouldn't have hired Kerr because he had 0 experience. Aren't they only at like 3 losses for the season? A lot of inferring around here about what the FO wants to do.. or how they're doing it.

Something, something, broken watch...

The laws of probability would seem to suggest that five out of six people who play Russian roulette don't shoot themselves in the head, either. Should we try that, too?

Can someone explain the hoopla over Vinny Del Negro? The guy has proven with both the Bulls and Clippers he has absolutely no control/leadership of his teams. He runs no system.

...Then again, sounds like the right man for the job according to Pete and Vivek. They want a coach who will be their puppet.

I'm leaning toward Ernie.
No no, if we're going to go that way, let's at least have some fun:

Of course Cousins hates him and would repeat the Sprewell incident inside a week, but hey, that was a Golden State thing too, and hence good. Besides, with his insightful basketball reasoning skills Vivek has probably determined that Mark Jackson has now been tainted by too much NBA experience, and if he really wants to emulate the Golden State experience that he learned his NBA on all those long 3 years ago, he needs to hire somebody unqualified directly from the broadcast booth, because obviously that's just the only way it works. These longtime coaches start boring you with their talk of X's and O's and defenz..zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....

I'm going to expect the worst and hope for the best so as to not be dissappointed.

I fully expect Mullin to take over. He has successfully infiltrated the organization.

I think where people are going wrong is assuming Mullin wants to be coach. I don't think he wants to give up his position of right-hand man to Vivek.

I wouldn't be surprised if you're right. Why give up the authority (i.e. influence) when you don't have to take responsibility for the results?

He also may not want to tarnish his reputation further by confirming that of being a back-stabber.

I love the fact that George Karl leads the poll by a huge margin. I think that he would be the ideal choice as head coach.

I have been thinking this way. What if they run with Corbin to the end of the year and make the playoffs as good as 6th or 7th. Anyway, some finish that is seen as a great success. We are all full of suspicions but maybe this would keep Corbin as HC. Karl is near retirement age. That isn't ideal.

If you look at this whole situation without suspicion, it doesn't look very bad.

I thoroughly believe the relationship between Malone and PDA and probably Mullin ended with verbal fireworks. I think that fits the facts as well as anything. I DID say facts.

The scenario depends on whether Ranadive is a real businessman or batguano crazy.

I can put 100 down nobody from that list will be coaching here. JVG/Hollins/tibs all are the same as malone slow down play defense. Mullin will be the next coach only reason he hasn't taking it is he wants to have the training camp.

Ladies and Gentlemen (mostly gentlemen) I represent:

Željko Obradović
The best basketball mind in the history of European Basketball.
This dude... This dude won the Euroleague...... 8 Times as a head coach!

Obviously the level of the Euroleague is lower than the NBA, but in equivalency he did it with players with lower skill than the NBA has to offer.
(Just for the record, way more achievements/rings than David Blatt and Ettore Messina (Spurs assistant coach)).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Željko_Obradović

LET'S BRING THIS DUDE TO COACH US!
You know what, let's just out of our pure respect, consider this man. Because he is truly, truly legit. Just ask peja and vlade.
