Where will RA coach next?

Michael Jordan today announced that Bernie Bickerstaff will not be back next year as coach of the Bobcats and that the Bobcats have not started to look for a new coach yet. "We haven't got to that point," Jordan said. "Bernie is still going to finish out the season. When the season is over, he and I will sit down and have those type of conversations -- who best suits the structure of players we have on this team."

I wonder if Adelman's phone will ring... and whether Charlotte would be a good fit for him. They have a couple of decent players now with Okafor and Wallace (ouch).

Interesting topic for discussion. While I don't know how the Wallace/Adelman dynamic would play out, I certainly think they're both professional enough to forget whatever MIGHT have gone on before.

The Bickerstaff thing actually got me thinking more about the Kings than the Bobcats and Adelman. If Geoff becomes a finalist for the Portland GM opening, and the Maloofs end up looking for a person to come in and fill the coach/gm role, Bickerstaff would be a nice alternative to the Larry Brown model.

Yup... RA would make a good fit for a growing franchise, but I persnoally look to see him follow GP where ever Geoff flees to in order to save his reputation from the house of Maloof. As for Bickerstaff comeing to Sac... maybe but to be honest at this point the Maloofs have created a situation where most coaches wih options will hesitate to sign up. After all who wants to coach a team with meddling owners who seem content with perpetual medoricity and lack the stomach to rebuild? Sort of a death sentance for coaches who are up and comeing.

I think it's really premature to think Petrie is going anywhere...

People tend to jump to conclusions about just what he and the Maloofs have been trying to do "on the fly." He's still got several years on his contract and I honestly don't see him going anywhere.

Adelman needs to go to a veteran team or at least with alot of veteran "presence". I don't think he does well with young teams and frankly I don't think he would have the patience to relive the Golden State years again. I could see him more in Orlando. I know they are young but they are a "good young" and have alot of guys with huge upside. Charlotte is a crapshoot as far as talent goes and considering it's pretty likely Wallace will opt out and become a free agent that roster looks a little shaky going into next year.

Other destinations might be Memphis(nice pairing of Oden and Gasol in the middle), Cleveland(if they melt down in the playoffs) or what about replacing Jerry Sloan in Utah if he retires??

I see Adelman as a perfect fit in Orlando. With Darko being a good passing big man, they can maximize his ability with the princeton offense. Orlando has alot of pieces that match up with the young Kings from the 99-00 season.

Howard: Not as skill as Webber but he's young and full of potential
Darko: not as crafty as Vlade but he's young enough to become a Vlade type of player
Turkoglu: a lesser version of peja
Nelson: not a creative pg like Jwill, but he's quick and can push the tempo

I think they can really benefit from Adelman's coaching and maybe 1 or two piece away from a contender status.

I think

I doubt Rick would be Charlotte bound, just in that he will probably be looking for a more stable/immediate situation if he does return. He's also always been a West coast guy, and I thinhk it would take more than Charlotte to tempt him back East. Probably. But his name will come up I'm sure in every coaching vacancy that opens up aorund the league this summer, so a lot of it is just going to be whether he has a real interest in returning to the NBA next year, or whether he's just going to call it a career. He's one last good run from pushing up into Aurebach territory and threatening 1000 wins, which I'd get a kick out of, but he's also old enough that maybe he just chooses to wind it down now aroudn home, at a college, whatever.
