As my nephew might say, this is going to be a heckalong season, and those two were great together. Like Hepburn and Tracy. I used to love those pregame and postgame shows. The quasi-flirting innuendos and bantering. And Kayte was more eye-candy than any cheerleader I could possibly spot on the floor. I really don't know if I can deal with 81 more games without those two. BRING 'EM BACK MALOOFS! YOU CHEAPSKATES!​

Kayte isn't missing in action. She has been seen in both promos and a couple of publicity events so people don't need to worry.

As far as Jim Kozimor goes, that's old news. HousePartyLive was axed for budgetary reasons. It happened months ago...

Trying to think if any local broadcasts have three person broadcasting teams...although of course if you're lookng to be cheap, that ain't.

1) if somebody has listened to Kayte analyze a game and listened to Reynolds analyze a game and come away thinknig Jerry is doing the better job...well they don't know basketball.

2) if she's got Angela's old job, then she is now the fluff reporter.

3) if you happen to KNOW, as I return your caps favor, that she's not the fluff reporter, and KNOW what she's going to be doing I will 1) stand corrected; and 2) think now might be an appropriate time to share. Because the rest of us are just putting two and two together. Her show is gone, she is apparently not traveling with the team, she certainly isn't sitting in Jerry's spot. If they are doing something nifty wiht her, might be a good time to spill the beans before the peasants march on Arco.

Its not a question of being unfair to the Maloofs. They have either recognized her talent and given her something to do, or made yet another one of their dubious personnel moves and marginalized her. Form the cheap seats its looking like marginalized. Be happy to learn I was wrong.

Penny wise and pound foolish. My wife is no basketball fan and she would watch the game because of those two. I am a basketball fan and I probably watched more games because of those two. If the talent on the floor is substandard, the Maloofs need to look at other ways to get people interested. NOT having Koz and Kayte doing pre and post games is not a way to do that. This product could get sterile very quickly into this season. I agree with Brick - Kayte needs to take over for Reynolds. For that matter, maybe Koz can take over for Grant. That would be entertaining...

I don't think you'll be disappointed with what Kayte does this year. As far as Koz goes, however, he's moved on... Believe me, I wish he had stayed. But it wasn't in the cards. I'm just glad he's still around in any capacity. If anything, he might well be picked up if/when Gary Gerould retires to fill that niche.

A lot will depend on how the team does, how the finances go, etc.

My guess would be that studio production costs on House Party Live became prohibitive when sponsors just weren't lining up and fighting over the privilege. That's why last season they didn't even do live audiences any longer or have anything close to the original "House Party"... budget cuts hit everywhere.

Where do I begin. Since you and I agree on most things, I reluctantly proceed. First off, I'm not a fan of Kozimor. Yeah, I know I'm in the minority, but I just never cared for him. Its a matter of taste I guess. It goes back to his gig on KHTK. When I tune in to a sports talk show, I want to hear about sports. Not wine tasting in the Napa valley. Or the latest hip hop record Koz likes. I grew up in St Louis where the sports casters had a harder edge to them. Which is probably why I like Grant, and don't like Mike. But thats another story.

Kayte however I liked and certainly hope to see her re-emerge somewhere where her talents can be put to full use. She has a soft hard edge to her that I like. She was great at making Koz feel good about being wrong. But she still made her point. She's very articulate and knowledgable. Not bad looking either. As far as comparing her to Jerry. Once again, its a matter of taste. Anyone that thinks Jerry doesn't know basketball is just plain stupid. Not liking his delivery is another thing altogether. But one has nothing to do with the other. I happen to like both of them. Having met Jerry, and probably biased because of that, all I can tell you is that you shouldn't be fooled by his country bumpkin approach. He has a very hard edge to him. You'll just never see on the air.

I, like all of you miss the pre-game and post-game shows. Mostly because of Kayte. But the lord giveth, and the lord taketh away. And, apparently so do the Maloof's. So I guess we should be grateful that we had it at all. Just kidding! I will say this though. I can remember when all the games wern't on televison. As a matter of fact, most of them wern't. So while were upset about the loss of the pre-game show, at least we do get to see all the games. And, as one sitting down here in mexico, I'm grateful for that..

I dont understand all the hate for Grant. The guy is very knowledgeable. I dont really care for Jerry's style too much, but I dont really dislike watching him. I never liked Koz. he didnt know jack. He just seemed to put on a big smile all the time and be the nice guy.

I liked looking at Kayte as she was very good looking and did know the game, but I certainly didnt like her more than Grant. Doing a pre game and doing the actual game are two different things.

I and Mrs. CruzDude are major fans of Jerry on TV and feel he is the perfect alter ego to Grant. Listen to enough other on-air TV mouths from the other teams and you have to put Jerry/Grant in the top five or better. I give you the OkCity boys, pretty bad. Jerry brings a unique "down home" mid-west brand of humor that is funny and he is VERY knowledgeable about the team and game. At least for us grandparents and one ex-college BB player..

So, if I understand you properly. You don't really need the game to watch. The Maloofs could just have the Kayte and Koz show and you would be happy.

Personally, I'm a basketball fan. I could give a rats a** about whose doing the pre-game or post-game show. To be truthful, I hardly ever watched the pre-game show, and I watched the post-game show just to see the post-game interviews. Although I admit to liking Kayte's analysis. Regardless, I sure wouldn't let their absence keep me from watching the game.

OMG, I listened to the Celtics announcers one year when I had NBA League Pass. I had to turn the sound off. Off the chart homers.

Agreed on the Grant thing, and have always thought that every since he's been in Sacramento, like 20 or so years ago. Walt Frazier is another BIG TIME homer(even if he is an all time great, Heinson too) And he LOVES to use big words just to use them, even if they arent necessary. Too much 'Just for Men' over the years, eh Walt?!
