I watched the Rockets play the other night and noticed that Bonzi never gets to play really.....Is Bonzi out with an injury? He might as well of signed with us and backed up K-Mart seeing how we wasted $25 million on Salmons.....hmmmmmm

i read on the rockets board that he wasnt happy in houston. it was reported that he didnt want to travel on the road with the team, instead he wanted to stay home and rest. van gundy told him he can stay home and rest for the rest of the season if bonzi want to but he declined. i think hes still recovering from the injuriy and getting in shape.

BONZI ON HOLD

Rockets forward Bonzi Wells was on the inactive list Friday for the third consecutive game and could remain there for a while.

Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy , who Oct. 23 guessed Wells would need two to three weeks to be ready to play, would not predict when Wells would be in shape enough to be on the active roster.

"He's just focusing on his conditioning, getting his legs," Van Gundy said. "I rushed him back. That's on me. I shouldn't have. I probably shouldn't have even put a timetable on it. That was probably another mistake.

"I'm going to let it work itself out ... and not put a timetable on it so it's not disappointing or people (ask) what's wrong.

"There's nothing wrong, other than he's got to get in the best possible shape so he can play as well as he can. In putting him out there, I made the wrong decision. I don't know why I did"

Look no one knows what's up with Bonzi to be honest.

David Aldridge reported the story about Van Gundy telling Bonzi to either get in shape or not play. The one time he played with extensive minutes, he looked awful. In fact one time, he stole the ball and ran down the lane but couldn't muster enough lift to make a dunk. He also was a step behind on every play and just couldn't get into the flow of the game.

And the funny thing is, on our rockets forum (not realgm, clutchfans which is the main rockets forum) no one really seems to care. It's just sort of a running joke because the moment we signed him, people somehow expected a half-assed effort. (after all Derek Anderson did the same thing to us last year)

But hopefully he gets his act together because we sure could use him. And frankly, he could use a new contract so there's incentive for him to get himself into shape.

Good move by Petrie to not break the bank on that risk.

(nobody ever says anything about moves that work out, seems like)

And this is the guy everyone wanted us to sign and that the experts said would put the Rockets over the top.

Yep.

And he might still before its over.

All of this is a direct result of what went on this summer. Long season, we'll know more in March. do not see Bonzi blowing what is basically a second contract year though unless the summer mess has actually killed his desire to play in the league.

It is referred to or called "The Sprewell Effect"
