Bench
Spencer was probably more mature than most 21 yr olds when he was 12. Donte is a free spirit, without his clowning around and enthusiasm on the bench he probably would have gone crazy sitting on the bench and watching the team lose.Distractions could very well be the reason but that excuse does not seem to affect Spencer Hawes one bit who is actually younger by a couple months.
Donte Greene needs to be very careful all the constant clowning does not become his distraction, his reputation instead of realizing the NBA is a serious business and hard work is only chance to make it in the league. For me, it's clear he has talent but it's extremely raw at this point. I'd say bring him back but if he is not improving, not seriously dedicated like Hawes or JT he'd be better off somewhere else (D-league, overseas, etc.)
Donte showed improvement in his defense, and although he rushed a lot of his shots, he wasn't that much different than JT when JT was rushing everything early in the season. There probably isn't anyone that posts here on this site that has any idea what the offensive scheme was that the Kings ran under Natt. So why would a rookie project perform all that well.
I still don't understand why the Kings even brought him back from Reno. Or, why he played more PF than SF. It's no wonder the kid hasn't showed great improvement, who could under those circumstances.
