What the hell is wrong with Nocioni!!??

All through these recent games, Nocioni has been playing horrible. His defense has been horrible and most importantly, his shooting has been horrible. The part that pisses me off is that he keeps shooting and shooting. He's good at driving in, why doesn't he do that?? It's just ridiculous watching him shoot all the time and missing.

Ever since he got a DUI Nocioni has been playing horrible.

False. He actually came back in a string of strong games after his DUI and was a big factor in some wins. He's played horribly since the start of this string of 4 games in 5 nights (coincidentally right as I added him in fantasy :()

this was the knock on him coming from Chicago. Love him one night not so sure the next. It will be interesting to see if the kings try to move him. I just don't see him having trade value...

True. Now you need to quickly drop him rom your fantasy team! He's been frustrating to watch lately.

He's like a black hole. As soon as he gets the ball he:

1. Shoot's a three pointer

2. Fakes and drives to the hole with that finger roll which has a half a chance of going in

We should keep him. He can hit the three, drive to the basket, and play good defense. Aren't players allowed to have slumps? His problem is he plays worse when he's angry and when he plays worse, he gets angry. He can guard other people his own size fairly well and we don't have a lot of people his size.

If only... Noc has hit the proverbial wall and is trying to bust through it head on. He's forcing his game and shots. You can see he's not playing fluidly. He needs to be benched to get his **** together. He's a better player than what we've seen. Just last week he was talked about as one of our reasons for the turnaround. I agree we have the youth and don't need him, but don't get rid of him now - help him get out of his funk and bulk up his trade value.

I think Nocioni is just going through a slump WHICH EVERYONE DOES give him a few more games before you bash him into an oblivion =)

Something has to give when Kevin comes back, and if its not going to be Kevin, Noc is the next logical victim. If its Casspi or Donte that's an epic fail for the organization.

Agreed......and Noc set the defensive tone early this season when the young guys were still finding their way. Noc is a good hard nosed veteran player. I like him because of his intensity. Remember how well he defended Durant earlier this season? Noc is one of those guys who can get under a players skin and get them frustrated. All that said if the right trade comes along, Noc can be traded because of Greene, Casspi and eventually KMart and Cisco.

I'm not sold on trading Noc. I think he can be an effective player, but we need to drill it into him that he is not our number 1 or even number 2 or number 3 option on offense. I'm perfectly fine with him missing some open 3s, even Ray allen has off nights. But what I can't stand is how he chucks with ample time on the clock, especially his fade away 2 point shots. Who does the man think he is?

There was one play against the hornets I believe where he shot a 3, bricked it. But lo and behold the offensive rebound got passed back to him and instead of passing it to set up the offense he bricked another 3. With about 22 seconds on the shot clock. This is just inexcusable decision making from a seasoned vet.

I think another one of the problems is, honestly, our lack of scoring threats on the floor at times, forcing Noc to become a chucker. Against NO we had line ups of Sergio, Beno, Udoka, Noc and KT. As good as Beno has been shooting and Sergio is at creating shots, that line up is really going 3 on 5 against the defense. Even if sergio gets the ball to KT wide open inside KT blows the lay up. Thus, noc thinks to himself, I must shoot! No passing, just shoot!

With Kevin returning and more coaching from Westphal, I'm sure Noc will return to being a solid defender and just a side option on offense. Noc needs to (OMG) do what Artest is doing for LA.

I was thinking the same thing. Just chucks and chucks regardless of whether he makes them or not. On offense, he's fairly predictable, unimaginative, and doesn't really create for others (other than offensive rebounds - heh). I thought he would provide great leadership by example for our younger players, but I hope they take this aspect of his game with a grain of salt. Still, he does give it all he's got.

Maybe Nocioni wants to try if he can become an all-star in this league. Nice try Nocioni, although the wrong way so it failed.:D

I think Nocioni doesn't have the physical ability that other players on the Kings have. This is why if he doesn't bring his 'A' or 'B' game, he is flat out horrible. Lately he has been a black hole like Salmons was, and he can't hit threes. He looks very dissatisfied on the court.

Chill out guys, yes he is struggling but remember if Cisco was healthy he would not be starting or getting the mins he is now. Noc is a solid back-up and tradeable peice.

Noc is a nice player, but considering his contract, what would other teams be willing to offer? I just don't see us getting an equal player back.

I was going to create a thread for it in Personnel Boards but this is probably a better place for it.

IF or WHEN Noc's get traded (and I believe he will)... Will people on this board and in kings land accept him being traded for just expiring contracts?(which I think is one of the most plausible situations or at least contracts that expire in 2011)? Or will there be outrage at not maximizing what we can get.

I feel we'll probably look to cut his contract for expirings come trade deadline to help offset the loss in revenue this season personally...

IIRC, Nocioni's contract actually declines every year, a rarity in the NBA. I'm not sure what impact that would have on trading him but I think we really need to wait and see what happens with Garcia before we get all happy about shipping him away.

As far as outrage about "not maximizing what we can get" for him, I've always thought that line of reasoning a little silly when you're talking about a second tier player at very best and a role player most likely. But we need role players on our roster and I don't see us shipping him out unless we get something we need in return.

First off, to think your going to sit Nocioni down and have a talk with him on how he needs to play the game is ridiculous. This is a guy thats been in the league for quite a while. He is what he is. What he's doing right now is what he's been doing his whole career. He's a player thats limited by his own physcial limits. He's a willing defender, but not a great defender by any means. Put him on a quick highly skilled player like Richard Jefferson, and he gets eaten alive. Its not his fault. He's just not capable of defending someone like that.

Offensively, he's always liked to shoot the ball. When he's hot, you don't notice the fact that he's sort of a black hole. Your too busy cheering. But when he goes through a three or four game streak, like he just did, then its stands out. Especially when your in a part of the game when you really need a basket to stop the bleeding. Just look at his lifetime stats and you'll see that he's maybe a little below those stats, but he's never had great stats.

As far as him being moved. I think its likely that he tops the list. Not because he's a bad player. But because he would have value to a good team that maybe needs that one more additional piece to get over the hump. And, when you look at his age and the redunditcy at his position, he's just the most likely to be moved.

Yes, and we'd be fortunate to even get expiring contacts for him. The value will come from who we sign with the cap space.
