I tend to agree with you on the center issue. I'd rather trade for one, or sign one in freeagency. But someone like Evan Turner could step right in and play next to Evans. They can both handle the ball. They can both pass the ball. They both can get to the basket at will, and both are great rebounders for their position. And, both play very good defense. You would have two guards that are multifuctional and that are both in the 6'5" to 6'7" range.

I'm not saying that should happen. But there are players in this draft that will be able to contribute right away.
I like that. If you can't get the star big man, then get a star guard to pair with Evans, who complements Evans. Then package K-Mart in a trade for a legit young big man. I really want another physical guard like what you describe above so that the other team's little guard is punished all night long.

I would trade our first pick next year along with KT for Oakafor. If that is what it would take to sweeten the deal for New Orleans. Then trade Nocioni at the deadline to a contender for a young unproven big and their first pick.

Nocioni's contract is big enough that you'd have a hard time finding an unproven player whose salary would match. OKC could afford to take on some extra payroll, but they're about the only team that could, so I'm not sure how this scenario could happen.

To some degree BPA but if two or three players are very close, you draft your needs and then let the dust settle later. Since this team is still in rebuild mode, though we are progressing a bit faster then I thought, I think we still gather as much talent as we can.

Wowsers on two accounts. 1) Okefor isnt worth a high draft pick on his own ,imo. Even though I think he would be a nice fit for our team. 2) Why would any team give us their first pickk and an unproven big for Noc.

I say let Petrie do his job. I'm sure whoever he picks is the right pick. I don't want to get stuck with a Thabeet or Hill.
The way Westphal is coaching, I woudn't mind if we trade for Thabeet, or Hill now. I am pretty sure Westphal can speed up Thabeet's or Hill's development. Our coach is just unbelievably good in making the kids play good basketball. Oh well, except for our starting center. But it is too early to discount him.
